Looking like the Sanders talk of awful pre-draft process might be holding water.

I really wanted that Giants trade back.

Golden is a good pick at the slot we picked him. I'm not negative. But man, nice trade deal.

I wasn't an overly big Golden guy but I can see the value. I see him more as an Olave than a DeSean Jackson, but still, his kind of WR has a lot of value in the pro game. He was also a Top 30 visit for us so I feel good about us getting a read on him on a personal level.

Also nice that we can finally (maybe?) shut up about us not drafting a WR in Round 1.

Here's my final 2ish round mock draft WITH TRADES (too many trades)

image.png

I did this by hand (actually in an iNotes last night while trying to sleep/with ambien starting to set in) so if I missed anyone or doubled up or otherwise messed up, it wouldn't surprise me. I already caught/corrected double Landon Jacksons.

But overall I am VERY pleased with this.
Well this was a mess, but I do feel nice about getting Will Johnson falling out of round 1; the Giants trading into the 20s to get Jaxson Dart; the Steelers and Falcons getting Harmon and Pearce at very different slots in the draft; Conerly going before Simmons; Loveland before Warren;

Love the CB and Edge players still available. Gotta think one of the them will get back to us. I'm a little unimpressed with the DTs left comparatively. I would personally be looking to move up for Will Johnson here. He should be long gone but Im not privy to the medical reports based on his injuries so it must be most significant than the public knows of. I wasnt a fan of Mike Green in the 1st but its great value here in the 2nd. I expect him to go in the next 5 picks.

Outside of those 2 I think you guys hang out and wait to see who falls.

You have to think Johnson and Green only fall this far if they are OFF a lot of boards

One good point: Chargers need a CB. Harbaugh coached Johnson and knows all the people at Michigan. They drafted a RB. Johnson's knee/hips must be long-term EFFed. Maybe he'll be good for a little while, but he's a ticking clock, I'd bet. I think we should stop fantasizing about him.

But yeah, there are still EDGEs and CBs I like but it'll be a long wait for pick 54. A lot of those guys are gonna go.

It reminds me of the Myles Jack draft-day slide and debate. He had some medical issue which meant his shelf-life would be half what you want out of a Round 1-2 player. Do you take the guy who can contribute early and probably at a high-level, but only gives you ~5 seasons of it, or do you value more highly guys who may not give you that impact more quickly but can be part of your team for closer to 10 years? Dunno if that's the actual debate with Johnson or not, but it's a significant consideration.

I think my biggest realistic targets for Day Two (in terms of the "just missed" round one guys likely being gone) are

CB: Darien Porter, Shavon Revel, Ben Morrison? Jacob Parish?
EDGE: JT Tuimoloau, Landon Jackson?
DT: Omar Norman-Lott
OT: Anthony Belton, Cameron Williams

Put me in the camp of no longer looking at WR until a Day 3 guy for me.

Today is about defense in my eyes.

CB:
1: Will Johnson - Still think its worth the risk
2: Ben Morrison - Would have been a top 20 pick if werent for injuries
3: Shavon Revel - Another probably 1st round CB without injuries
4: Darian Porter - Type of CB Gutenbumst likes, tall fast
5: Azareyeh Thomas - Super young and long CB, some speed concerns
6: Trey Amos - Pretty athletic with good size

Edge:
1: Mike Green - Worth the potential, still learning edge after playing WR
2: Donovan Ezeiraku - Kind of reminds me of Harold Landry at this point
3: Landon Jackson - So much athletic potential
4: JT Tuimoloau - Pretty well rounded player
5: Jordan Burch - Love this player
6: Femi Oladejo - Very risky pick with not a lot of edge experience but so athletic

DT:
1: Darius Alexander - Good 3T with a good Senior Bowl
2: TJ Sanders - Disruptive 3T

I agree with this aside from the top two risks. Don't want either of them at this point. I should have included Thomas. I put a question mark after Morrison about likelihood of availability and left Amos off for the same reason, but I guess we never know. Same with Ezeiraku. I struggle getting there with Burch. Seems destined to be just a guy. But he does fit our type.
