I've always liked Kirksey; I'm glad to have Kirksey.
The injuries are a bit worrisome, but that's a good way to find bargains.
It's weird how last year's M.O. was young, healthy players who have a track record of not missing games and this year's M.O. is guys with a track record of injuries who are either dirt cheap (Funchess) or released players (Kirksey and Wagner). I like the flexible approach depending on circumstances.

I really think the compensation pick process played into the decisions. No one to resign from the 2015 class last year, so go big in on FA's knowing its a one time deal, so go real big.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑26 Mar 2020 12:15I've always liked Kirksey; I'm glad to have Kirksey.

At that time, we were looking at Mike Daniels, Lowry, GMo (was much better in '18), Crosby, Bulaga, Blake, Fackrell (coming off 10 sacks). So get your comp picks.
Then even looking to 2021 (Clark, Bakhtiari, Jones, Williams, Montravious (expected starter going into the '19 season), Linsley, Graham. Again, make smart signs, target guys who aren't gunna hurt your comp picks.
Just my two cents, but I think that is playing into this a ton. If not, then its just a pretty crazy coincidence.

My recollection is that prior to the past two injury-shortened years, Kirksey was seen as strong in coverage. Does anyone have anything that confirms/denies that?
I know PFF is down on him in coverage more recently

That was what he was hyped for coming into the NFL. Coverage and athleticism.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑26 Mar 2020 17:13My recollection is that prior to the past two injury-shortened years, Kirksey was seen as strong in coverage. Does anyone have anything that confirms/denies that?

Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."
Go to 13 minutes to start with Joe Thomas talking about Kirksey.
