Great memories from knot hole club watching Hank Aaron play right field for the MKE Braves.

He was a great player and an even better man.

I only caught the tail end of Aaron's career as a child growing up in Wisconsin. Even then, though, his presence and impact on the game was surreal. I remember being a big fan of his and saddened when he retired.

RIP Henry. You were an all-time great player...and greater man.

Growing up in Wisconsin as a kid we all knew who Henry Aaron was. #44 Hammerin' Hank. Saw Henry Aaron play in the 1965 season at Milwaukee County Stadium. Henry Aaron is right up there with all of the great Packers players from that era. Was too young to understand the racial prejudice that he had to endure while playing in the Major Leagues. Also was too young to know about the 1957 Braves that won the World Series. But I do recall what is arguably the greatest offensive outfield in the history of Major League Baseball: Henry Aaron, Rico Carty and Lee Maye (all 300 hitters).

Thought it was great that the Brewers brought Henry back to Milwaukee to finish off his 23 year career.

Henry still holds the all-time records for RBIs (2297) and Total Bases (6858).

RIP Henry Aaron.

I grew up in South Milwaukee. Our Parks and Recreation program offered trips to County Stadium 2-3 times each summer. It was called the Knot Hole Club. If I remember right we paid 10 cents to get into the game and 15 cents for the bus ride to the ball park. That would have been the summers around ‘62-‘64. Our seats were in right field bleachers right behind Hammerin’ Hank! We would arrive well before the game. We all had our baseball gloves well worn from playing little league baseball. During pre game warm ups, we would hang over the right field fence yelling, “Come on Hank, throw us a ball!” He essentially ignored us and never did throw a ball to us. That did not discourage us, maybe we just accepted the fact he was focused and preparing himself for the game.
