Post by BF004 »

Just got the 2021 Spreadsheet pretty much as up to date as I can.

If anyone wants to get into some group mock offseason, let me know or pm me here. No idea when we will be ready to get one started, but can start thinking about it.

Sample results from one we did last year.

To get a sense of how horrible this offseason might be if they really drop the cap to 175. Just using the aggregate sum from everyone's cap available dollars in 2020 from this spreadsheet, there was $1,331,356,591 in 2020 cap dollars available. However for 2021 right now, it is $185,559,339 in possible cap dollars available.

To compound matters, there are 13 teams already over the cap who will have to be releasing good football players.

Wait a few weeks into FA, you are going to get some unbelievable bargains, even if the cap does stay the same at like 198, which would only create about 921,000,000 in 2021 available cap dollars.

I'm about ready to get in another one here.

Shoot for next Monday?

Sign on up and I'll pm you with some info.

As much as you think you know the Jaguars guard or ILB situation, their pending FA's, other needs and cap situation along with draft capital and expectations, I promise you don't until it is your turn to make a decision on something. :aok:

I'm back around after taking a brief offseason next time you do one of these. Still haven't caught up on the Senior Bowl and such, though.

I feel good about my work for the Colts. They have a ton of space so fixing the LT problem with a top-tier vet makes sense. They keep TY Hilton but also drafted his replacement in Rondale Moore. Then they got a couple physical defenders at high-value positions (EDGE and CB) to round out the draft.

We did this before the trade for the Titans 2020 draft bus at RT so I had them sign and draft OTs. Also involved in a lot of trades; moved back a spot for Sewell, moved up for Moehrig, moved up for Toney. The Aaron Jones links have been rumored throughout and the fit makes a lot of sense.

Again this was done before Allen Robinson got tagged, so grain of salt. But all needs are addressed. The OT from Clemson may not be immediately ready so I could have done better by them at OT, but getting Fitz and Trask at QB allows them to start Fitz, have Heineken and Allen compete for the backup job, and develop Trask for a year. Adding JOK and Wade to the defense should give them a couple of versatile pieces to sprinkle into an already good unit.

yohochecko Lions Tylan Wallace
Lions didn't have much cap space and just the standard 3 draft picks. QB of the future (only one more year with Goff guaranteed money), an iDL and a receiver threat checked some boxes, but they have a lot of needs so it was mostly best available kind of stuff
yohochecko Packers Aaron Robinson
yohochecko Packers Alim McNeill
yohochecko Packers Liam Eichenberg
yohochecko Packers Rashod Bateman
yohochecko Packers Troy Hill
OK, so the CB position did not work out as planned; I wasn't able to address it in the draft until the 3rd round and due to cap constraints I only had them add Troy Hill, who comes over from the Rams to bring scheme fit and experience with Barry, but not a top-tier player. The plan was to pair him with a ready-made starter to compete, but like the real Packers with WR last year, I kept missing out on the waves. Aaron Robinson is a bit polarizing, but a couple draftniks I listen to talk about him a lot and he seemed like a decent scheme fit from what i understand; easily my least favorite aspect of my Packers work, though.

That said, I think Bateman has #1 WR qualities. He can create his own separation, runs good routes, has good releases and makes insane catches even when not that open. I wasn't planning on taking an OT early, but Eichenberg is just such a sound player; we likely have our starting OTs for this year, so he gets a year to add strength in an NFL program while filling in as a swing before being asked to be a fulltime starter.

I really wanted to nab speedy, dynamic RB Michael Carter at the end of round 3, but Alim McNeil fell and I was TOO excited for that. Love McNeil; he can 1-gap or 2-gap and is just scratching the surface. He's relatively new to DT (was a high school RB) and has rare movement skills at his weight.

yohochecko Seahawks Cam Newton
yohochecko Seahawks Trey Smith
So I thought I was going to move Russel Wilson so I acquired Cam Newton but then the top 3 QBs went 1-2-3 and the 4th went top ten and there just wasn't a good opportunity to trade Wilson and get a replacement in the draft, thus it doesn't make much sense. Also wasn't able to slide back with their 2nd round pick, so that was all the picks available. A guard. I'm sure the 12h man will be thrilled.
yohochecko Titans Carlos Basham Jr.
yohochecko Titans Christian Barmore
yohochecko Titans Shaquill Griffin
yohochecko Titans Tutu Atwell
Titans have a lot of needs for a team that has such success. Barmore with Justin Simmons on the DL could be nasty, though, and hopefully Boogie Basham can add a pass rush. Signing Shaq Griffin is a nice get in a leaky secondary. And while replacing Corey Davis with Tutu Atwell is funny stylistically, adding a speed, playmking element to the toughness and consistency of AJ Brown and Derrick Brown made sense.

Suppose I can do my breakdown too

BF004 Bengals Brandon Scherff
BF004 Bengals Corey Linsley
BF004 Bengals Darius Stills
BF004 Bengals Ja'Marr Chase
BF004 Bengals Pat Freiermuth
Common to see a team with a young QB try to build up around him and quickly, getting 2 huge interior OL, instant impact WR and a TE early in the draft.

BF004 Bills Brevin Jordan
BF004 Bills Jadeveon Clowney
BF004 Bills Patrick Jones II
BF004 Bills Samuel Cosmi
Wanted to bolster up the D, pass rush in particular. They make a modest splash with Clowney and go with another edge round 1 as well.
BF004 Broncos Justin Simmons
BF004 Broncos Kellen Mond
BF004 Broncos Kenneth Gainwell
BF004 Broncos Micah Parsons
Typical Elway method of addressing QB, just take a moderately high flyer on a guy without actually trying. Taking Mond early in the 2nd. Actually really like him a lot, definitely my favorite -not top 5- QB. Get the #1 ILB on the board and an RB that might help them save some $$ on Gordon.
BF004 Cowboys Chuba Hubbard
BF004 Cowboys Dak Prescott
BF004 Cowboys Marvin Wilson
BF004 Cowboys Patrick Surtain II
Big deal for Dak, hitting the D early in the draft, board fell really well for them. Start taking a stab at finding a much cheaper replacement for Zeke.

BF004 Falcons Elijah Moore
BF004 Falcons Jayson Oweh
BF004 Falcons Zach Wilson
Very passive offseason, no FA moves, bad cap situation, Wilson fell to pick 3 so they moved up to get him. Already missing a 2nd round pick. They need to tank, trade Ryan and start over next year.

BF004 Jets Dylan Moses
BF004 Jets Kenny Golladay
BF004 Jets Rashawn Slater
BF004 Jets Travis Etienne
BF004 Jets Will Fuller V
BF004 Jets William Jackson III
BF004 Jets Wyatt Davis
Had some fun here. Getting Jackson at CB, then big moves for Golladay and Will Fuller. Traded back from 2, took Slater to play RT and Davis for the interior, along with trading back into the 1st to take Etienne. Saleh and Co want to give Darnold a fair shot to see if he is the problem or the solution before his contract is expiring.

BF004 Raiders Asante Samuel Jr.
BF004 Raiders Josh Myers
BF004 Raiders Nick Bolton
BF004 Raiders Shaquil Barrett
Board fell really well for them too, nice trade back and still got a top CB, Nick Bolton fell right to them, and got some OL help to go with their big FA acquisition in Shaq Barrett. Going big on the D knowing they got to deal with Mahomes and Herbert 4 times a year.

BF004 Rams Hamilcar Rashed
BF004 Rams Jonnu Smith
BF004 Rams Richie Grant
Not a lot of freedom here with draft and cap, but went out and got Jonnu Smith anyways for Stafford. If you are going to make that move, you gotta give him some pieces. Draft went all D, so they are likely gunna have to get some lower level FA's or later round picks on the OL at some point.
BF004 Saints Elijah Molden
BF004 Saints Mac Jones
Big trade up in the 1st to get Mac Jones. Given their cap situation, they really don't have the option to even sign a garbage QB at QB prices, gotta make it happen with some QB on a rookie contract.

BF004 Texans Hunter Henry
BF004 Texans Tyler Shelvin
They have the cap room, but just couldn't really imagine anyone wanting to go there, lol

BF004 Vikings Ben Cleveland
BF004 Vikings Gregory Rousseau
BF004 Vikings Walker Little
Also little to work with here. Got Rousseau in the 1st round here, meaning their 1st and 2nd (Yannick) both went to one edge player, lol, then with Diggs and Cook and a not bad Kirk, investing in the OL.

backthepack4ever 49ers Cam Robinson
backthepack4ever 49ers Justin Fields
backthepack4ever 49ers Marcus Williams
backthepack4ever 49ers Najee Harris
The 49ers made their move to get their future at QB. Getting healthy the Dee Ford trade wont hurt much. Fields can sit or be eased in depending on how the season goes. Cam Robinson was tagged but the 49ers will look to add at LT. Marcus Williams adds a playmaker at safety to a secondary that might lose a lot of pieces. Harris was just to good to pass up in the 2nd. He would be a monster in this offense. I think the 49ers are going to move on from Jimmy G and Fields can jump in and keep this team competitive.
backthepack4ever Bears Alex Smith
backthepack4ever Bears Christian Darrisaw
backthepack4ever Bears Jevon Holland
backthepack4ever Bears Landon Dickerson
The Bears need something... anything at QB. At this point Smith seemed like a good option for a short term move. Darrisaw was a steal in round 1 and he starts at LT day 1. I hate they landed him at 20. I think he will be really good. Holland is a well rounded playmaker at safety and a sure tackler (something E Jackson sucks at) In round 3 the bears again look to fix the OL with Dickerson who can play guard or slide to center. A solid draft getting tough on a OL that has been below average for to long.
backthepack4ever Cardinals D'Wayne Eskridge
backthepack4ever Cardinals Javonte Williams
backthepack4ever Cardinals Jaycee Horn
Even after the Watt signing the Cards have some cap room to still add another players but I think it would be a mid tier type and didn't jump during this mock. As for the Draft Horn might not be the athlete of a young PP but he is a good size CB that they will love. He fits in right away. Williams might be the best back in this draft and he would take pressure off the passing game. I really like the fit. the OL could be better but Williams can pound the rock and Murrays duel threat makes this O take a step forward. I been on record to really like Eskridge and the Cards get a really player in round 3. With D Hop and Kirk, Esk will flourish with his NFL ready route skills.
backthepack4ever Chiefs Creed Humphrey
backthepack4ever Chiefs Dayo Odeyingbo
backthepack4ever Chiefs Spencer Brown
Not really happy with the Chiefs draft. More need based with the OL instead of getting better players. That SB whooping might force them to really fix the trenches though. Esp after they cut both Tackles today I feel the Chiefs took a big step back. I do love Odeyingbo though. Long athletic guy with a non stop motor. I see a bigger D Hunter in him. Really good player that would be a nice fit a a DL with 2 other studs. Pass rush is king.
backthepack4ever Eagles Caleb Farley
backthepack4ever Eagles Cameron McGrone
backthepack4ever Eagles Hamsah Nasirildeen
backthepack4ever Eagles Terrace Marshall
The Eagles are in cap hell and it may be a ish storm this season but the draft added some upside prospects. Farley is already their best CB in years without even playing a game (yea their corners suck). Marshall is a nice WR prospect and weapon that is needed to help a young QB. McGrone will need time and if he plays early there will be mistakes but the talent is pouring out of him. Philly has been great on the DL, now they have a sideline to sideline backer to eat. Nasirildeen might not have a true position but could be a nice chess piece. I really wanted to attack the back 7 of this D in the draft.
backthepack4ever Giants Baron Browning
backthepack4ever Giants DeVonta Smith
backthepack4ever Giants Levi Onwuzurike
how are the giants in cap problems and not paying a QB. ouch :? Anyway, Smith killed it in college and thought I question if that will translate he would to good to pass up here. A true tech to help see if Jones really is the QB of the future. I have Browning higher then most at ILB. The giants need more athletic ability at ILB. Browning next to Marty isn't a bad upgrade. Onwuzurike was a steal in round 3. some have him as a 1st rounder. I couldn't pass on him and hes a different body type to what they have on the IDL. He has some nasty and offers pass rush.
backthepack4ever Jaguars Dyami Brown
backthepack4ever Jaguars Eric Stokes
backthepack4ever Jaguars Gerald Everett Orlando Brown in Trade with Ravens.
backthepack4ever Jaguars John Johnson III
backthepack4ever Jaguars JuJu Smith-Schuster
backthepack4ever Jaguars Trevor Lawrence
backthepack4ever Jaguars Zaven Collins
It sure is fun when you have a ton of cap room and high picks. Well I guess that means you failed on the field. Jags killed this offseason IMO. They really wanted Godwin but he got tagged. instead they added JuJu to pair with Chark. To give their future franchise QB another weapon Everett gets a fresh start to show off his talents. Lawrence is the guy to get to use these weapons. The jags also got a stud to protect the blind side. Brown wants to play LT and the ravens were happy to get a 1st round pick for him. Both teams win and I still thing this could happen in the real world. JJ3 has a big year and the Jags pay him to help fix a weak young secondary.
Collins is versatile to rush off the edge and play off ball LB. Stokes has that dog in him to really elevate a young cb group. and if the jags didn't add enough to the O Dyami Brown is a big play waiting to happen. If Lawrence fails we can say the Jags didn't try to give him the tools.
backthepack4ever Panthers Dillon Radunz
backthepack4ever Panthers Greg Newsome II
backthepack4ever Panthers Kyle Pitts
backthepack4ever Panthers Matt Milano
backthepack4ever Panthers Taylor Moton
Panthers keep Moton. They sigh Milano to get the LB corps back to respectable.
Pitts is an animal. TEs shouldn't be drafted this high, but he should be. a better D Waller imo. Great fit in this O with playmakers at each position. Newsome showed hes a great athlete to go with being a damn good football player. Starts day 1. Radunz is the future at tackle and needs a year if they can.
backthepack4ever Patriots Alijah Vera-Tucker
backthepack4ever Patriots Curtis Samuel
backthepack4ever Patriots Joe Tryon
backthepack4ever Patriots Kyle Van Noy
backthepack4ever Patriots Trey Hendrickson
Pats are another team that was busy. I expect they bring Jimmy back so I wanted to add Samuel bc BB will find ways to get him touches. Samuel can be a field tilter. The d is bringing back guys that say out but they also made Pat type of moves. They bring back Van Noy after he got cut. Still are really nice player. Hendrickson had a big 2020 and can come in here and continue. In the draft Vera-Tucker can play anywhere on the OL and is a stud. Another pass rusher in Tryon. explosive player that can move around. a smart player that the pats love to have. If they can figure out the QB position it was a good offseason
backthepack4ever Ravens Amon-Ra St. Brown
backthepack4ever Ravens Carl Lawson
backthepack4ever Ravens Corey Davis
backthepack4ever Ravens Jaelan Phillips
backthepack4ever Ravens Teven Jenkins
on paper the ravens roster is loaded, maybe the best in the AFC. they are losing pieces but always seem to find a way to plug and play. I have Lawson coming over from cincy Lawson was a top 5 in Qb pressure last season on a bad team. with the ravens D I see him having a Z kind of switch. Davis will get his shot at proving he can stack success.
Phillips is the best pass rusher in the draft to me. He is not the best at 1 thing but hes good at everything. I just love this player. double digit sack guy for a long time. Jenkins starts at RT after moving Brown to the Jags. lamar Jackson gets another playmaker in an O that mights teams to respect the wideouts. Davis and Brown are huge upgrades.
backthepack4ever Steelers Ifeatu Melifonwu
backthepack4ever Steelers Jalen Mayfield
backthepack4ever Steelers Quincy Roche
There was no QB worth reaching for on a team that will have to find one soon. Instead they drafted best value available and hit some big needs. Mayfield is a mean dude that is franchise loves. Big long talented CB.... Melifonwu. Roche is an elite athlete at edge who can also drop in coverage. just a meat and potatoes draft

What we should have done, first step, was to have each team get under the salary cap first, via restructures or more importantly, releases for free agency.

Probably don't have time to get another one done before FA starts.

Would be nice to do 2 more at least, draft only, a week or two at least after FA starts.
