Green Bay Packers News 2022
Time to flip the switch to a new season with the first news:
Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."
After a couple of years of good injury luck, this year was god-awful. Not only injuries to key players, but snail-slow recoveries.

Yup, just makes the failures during the relatively healthy years all the more frustrating.
This may need a new thread, but what do we expect the plan to be for QB in 2022.
Hand the keys to Love to be the starter?
Bring in a veteran to compete such as an andy dalton, nick foles level guy?
In the trade for Rodgers, try to get back a player that can be a starter in 2022. Tannehill, Carr, Tua, Jameis etc etc ?
Any predictions, thoughts?

Personally, I think it is either Love or a QB we draft. I do not think we bring in a veteran. Bite the bullet and rebuild.

I predict there will be 23 threads about the QB position before the draft is done.Drj820 wrote: ↑24 Jan 2022 12:11This may need a new thread, but what do we expect the plan to be for QB in 2022.

Don't understand how its even a question. Love gets the ball. Good or bad, ready or not. Does mean they don't draft someone else. But Love gets the first shot to show what he can do as the guy.

YYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what I was hoping for. We were the ones who gave him the break and we are the ones where the system "works". There has to be tremendous appreciation on his end. Sign a modest 3 year deal for like $15 million ASAP.
That is absolutely life changing money.

Have to wait and see how it actually turns out, but at least it's nice to hear someone say it. Reminds me of (I think) Jordy saying something like "how much does anyone need?".
Conversation today.
Broncos - "Why didn't you guys score more Saturday"
Hackett - "Rodgers won't listen to anybody"
Broncos - "Can you get Rodgers to listen to you?"
Hackett - "Probably not"
Broncos - "How about Drew Loc....."
Hackett - "No"
Broncos - "But...."
Hackett - "No"
Broncos - "You ok not having anything higher than a day 3 pick for the next 3 years?"
Hackett - "Davante coming too?"
Broncos - "Yep"
Hackett - "Where do I sign?"

I'd be quite surprised if they brought in a veteran (well, unless Love implodes in training camp).
IMO, better to just keep churning young QBs if Love isn't the answer instead of slogging along with a washed-up or never-was veteran.

I think there is value if you bring on a smart veteran QB who can do that "coaching" role. But I don't know who is all out there that fits that role any longer.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑24 Jan 2022 13:11I'd be quite surprised if they brought in a veteran (well, unless Love implodes in training camp).

Hugs. Interesting.
Rumors starting to fly that Hackett is the guy. Not substantial or big name people floating them yet. But its as I expected.

i honestly dont know if Lafluer and company will just submit to a "rebuild" and awful year considering the talent we still will have on the roster, if they just flat out dont think Love can play.
No brainer hand the keys to Love if they think he can play. Happily endure the growing pains.
But if their gut says he cant...I think its a very real possibility they bring in someone to compete with him.
We may be resigned to a year of struggles, lafleur may not be.

Coaches always try to win with what they have. But can only work with what you have. This isn't necessarily a bottom of the league roster, even without Rodgers and Adams. Not great, but not 0-17. But there is no one else out there that is going to give you a huge difference in wins over what Love will give. At least not enough to possibly set back building towards something more in '23 and 24.Drj820 wrote: ↑24 Jan 2022 13:24i honestly dont know if Lafluer and company will just submit to a "rebuild" and awful year considering the talent we still will have on the roster, if they just flat out dont think Love can play.

If Love doesn't work out, we'll draft someone new or worry about a free agent after '22.
