I gotta say, Lafleur is really showing his weaknesses as a coach.

Hes done a GREAT job here, so this is not "fire the coach" talk, but my goodness this man needs an edge. He is always giving the happy cliche talk. When asked about the ST coordinators future, he said he "hadnt even thought about it" and the time for coaches evaluations will be much later down the road.

What a joke. He also pretty much seemed to absolve Rodgers of all blame for the loss. Now, I understand that considering how Rodgers gets his feelings hurt. Lafleur knows Rodgers would demand a trade to the Bears if he crossed him the wrong way.

But what really bothered me, besides not announcing the firing of Drayton...was Lafleur parroted the Rodgers line of "being numb", and "never thinking it was going to end this way"

Um Matt, its do or die in the playoffs, and every team is good. knowing that it CAN happen to you fuels your drive to improve and your intensity throughout the week leading up to game day. Its not time to worry about hair gel, your fit, or your fade...its time to know that you can be going home..that Rodgers time in GB can end at any time...and youve got to do everything in your power to prevent that....which includes taking over STs yourself and canning the liability.

All of this talk of how the whole team cant believe its over and they never dreamed that would be possible makes me just think they lost because they assumed they had a ticket punched to the NFCCG already. Hell, maybe they thought this was a practice and they really got two weeks off between games.

That mentality is sickening to me
I have no problem with MLF not throwing his assistant under the bus. What good would that do in a post season presser? Now, if a change isn't made after the SB that is an entirely different story.

That would have fired the team up. Everybody would have known s*** just got real. What you suggest actually sounds like a great idea. Everybody in that room would know they need to perform or they would be next. Tom Brady would have fired Mo himself at halftime if he was a Packer.
Oh geez.

Fired up the locker room? Or maybe the locker room would have seen it as a panic move, a knee-jerk move, a WTF are we gonna do now in the 2nd half that we weren’t already gonna do under the guy you just fired type move.

I mean, I have been advocating for Mo to go since mid-season but firing him at halftime of the division playoff game you’re currently leading is just ludicrous.
Haha

I say after he allowed that FG to get blocked before half, Lafleur should have had it dialed up on the Jumbotron at Lambeau for his canning to be announced right then and there. Security should have forced him to take off all packers gear, remove his headset, and be escorted out of the stadium Immediately.
seriously, are you on drugs, thats all you've done is spout insane stuff no coach would do, I think of it like this, Matt says to Russ Ball how much can I spend on a ST cord, and Russ says no more then such and such a amount, and thats why Matt elevated Drayton from assistant to head guy, everyone one is quick to blame Lafluer, I think that blame is misplaced.

What is going on here?

drJ was so clearly kidding.

And other that one publicized but never verified report, there is no evidence we are financially skimping on coaches.

Quite the opposite, we have brought in big name ST coaches, we bring in big name OC’s and DC’s. Evidence points the contrary that we are not afraid to spend on the coaching staff.

Dom Capers, Mike Pettine, Joe Barry, Nathaniel Hackett, Joe Philbin 2nd time, Ron Zook.

Despite one stupid report, we have zero problem staffing big, more expensive, names.

didn't seem like he was kidding to me, and when and how much is the big money that we;ve spent on cords, that article I brought is accurate, we reneged on spending for Rizzi, our OL coach and a couple other Lafluer hires are second choice additions, because the FO wouldn't pay what the first choice coaches wanted, we have been natoriously cheap when it comes to coaching hires, it's no secret.

I actually came back to to delete that part and you beat me to it.

I knew he wanted to be out there. No doubts about that. I would say tho that the article didnt 100% clear up for me that this wont be an ongoing thing. No structural damage at all, all healed up in terms of structure...yet constant fluid to the area when its being aggrevated (Read: playing football)

Hes just gotta hope that stops one day. I would say no guarantees that it will.

Finally read it too. Damn. Hopefully everyone reads that and realizes how much can really go into an injury like that. People gave him way too much flack for not coming back. When in reality, his drive to come back actual made it so he couldn't.

But the good news is, it sounds like he should be good for next season.

For me it did clear it up. I think he only kept getting the fluid as much as he was, because he continued working out and stressing the knee. Rest and letting it heal up properly and he should be fine.

Agree.

Hate to say it but I think he is done as it seems like it will be reoccurring.

The number of times they had to go in to drain fluid. That is abnormal. Some people are never the same after a significant injury and this is a 300 pound NFL player putting a huge amount of force on that knee.

I would guess if he plays he will be getting plenty of injections and numerous fluid drains consistently.

Hopefully, the fluid thing was the result of him putting too much stress on the knee before it was solidly healed rather than something that will be recurring. I am out of my depth when it comes to medical stuff like that, but yeah. I won't be a Doomer about it just yet, but if he keeps getting sidelined next year, I won't hold out much hope for him anyone.
