Here's how this works:

Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll.

Simply voting is not enough!

Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 10 guys, a new player is added to the list each day).

Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

But I'm hoping Taylor takes a starting spot back at least, and reaaaallly hope Runyan shines and snatches the spot from both of them.

I voted for Lancaster. He will probably play 50% of the snaps unless he gets hurt.

Turner is maybe the most likely RG but the odds are more than 50% that someone else takes and keeps his job before the season is over. If someone else plays lights out in preseason, I expect Turner to be a salary cap cut.

As for who that someone might be, Taylor, Patrick, Madison, Runyan and a surprise all have a decent chance of taking his job. If they all have a 15% chance, that means Turner has a 60% chance of losing his job. And I'd say Runyan has a 25% chance.

Now I can get on the Turner train, but it feels like this is the moment where there was a substantial drop.

I went with Raven Greene. He was a huge part of the defense before getting hurt. Pettine clearly like the dome defense and his go to S to play the LB position is Greene.

Once Greene got hurt we did see a drop off in the defense although it was a small sample size.

I think the ball boy would be ahead of Billy Turder in terms of importance and skill.

I’m also really pulling for Runyan although I don’t care if it’s him or one of the other rookie lineman. I don’t know if Taylor’s body can hold up anymore. He got IRd for a bicep injury last year and he turns 31 mid season. He already wasn’t the misted athletically gifted.

Let's talk about Raven Greene and what we have to go off of. In week 1 he played 55 snaps or 77% of the total. He started, had 6 tackles and a PD. He played just under 2 more quarters on the season (in week) with an additional 15 snaps. While we liked what we saw in week 1 against the Bears, it is such a TINY sample size to go off of. They chose not to bring him back at the end of the season, when they could have. He very well might be cut. Very hard to tell. Personally, I think Greene belongs in the high 20s.

$2.85 million in savings is significant, it wouldn't shock me. I think he is valuable, can back up probably 4 positions on the OL, but if he looks awful, I'd have no prob.

Same 4.5 million dead cap in 2021, 3.55 in cap savings and about $5.9 in actually savings off the books next year.

Since it is post 6/1, as far as 2021 cap is concerned, seems like it pretty much doesn't matter if we release him today in in 355 days.

Ya, that is why I say there is almost no chance. It is past June 1st. It doesn't save us much to cut him this year. We save $2,850,000 in 2020 or $3,550,000 in 2021. The cap hits are exactly the same whether we cut him today or cut him on May 31st, 2021.
