I'm good with this. Guessing base is pretty low with plenty of incentives. Hope to hell we have to pay him the $4M.

"Up to 4M" sounds like the kinda deal you give a once-promising WR in his last chance effort to salvage a career. "Just" 29 years old but last played all 16 games as a rookie...

Does this affect the draft? Naah.

Or kinda, since we now have two boundary receivers (tho uninspiring ones in Watkins and Lazard), and two uninspiring slots, who miiiiight be able to hold the fort while a rookie or three learn the ropes. Or recover from an ACL wink wink...

Is it the end of efforts to add vets? Naah, I think Guty will still add a bargain in a trade or FA if one is available. "Up to 4M" is cuttable if Watkins is washed up in camp.

The issue with adding vets is it comes down to special teams and roster spots.

Lazard and Cobb don't play special teams. Amari Rodgers only plays them as a sub par returner.

If Watkins doesn't play them then that's 4 roster spots not giving us much on teams, which after last year, probably needs to be a greater priority.

Adding more non ST WR depth like a Julio Jones or Fuller and you start to squeeze ST production.

Funny it’s his last hurrah year, yet he’s a year younger than Davante who just broke the WR $ record.

If Watkins can stay healthy. He can still be really good, he’s only 28.

Yeah, he was looking really good in Buffalo before leaving and just didn't really catch on elsewhere. Did have some really good moments in KC too and then played for a heavy run team. Sometimes the situation can determine success, so hopefully GB with Rodgers can help him breakout again. Far from washed up.

True, but the vet me might add could be of a KR/PR or STs demon variety... And none of our current WRs are locks due to either talent or contract. Those spots can be taken by rookies (or a better WR acquired via trade) without anyone being shocked or with significant cap impact.

I feel like one more vet WR is in order, but Watkins should definitely help account for some of the production we need to replace at WR. It's very encouraging that Rodgers is in on this and wants to work together, one of the things I was unsure about with him.

We know one of those WRs is a lock. The ageing slot WR with no special teams role won't be going anywhere :nono:

He’s so cheap it doesn’t hurt to kick the tires with him. Just hope this isn’t the packers only attempt to fill the cupboard

I have no issues with the signing. Low cost, we needed a veteran in the room, and the options are limited. Hope he can stay healthy and help the young guys.

I said that because eventually GM's wont bring him in because he's been hurt so much, this is very likely a one year thing with us should he miss any time. for most of his career Adams plays.

Myself and Ghost_Lombardi were all aboard this train for a while. Others didn't disagree. Some others may have been on the bandwagon.

This honestly just made too much sense not to happen. Honestly.
