All this random punter talk really has me thinking of swapping my "Here's Johnny" pick to JK for the domed bounce-back game
:idn:

haaa, go ahead, I was thinking the same thing.

I listened to Leroy Butler explain the screw up in coverage, as well Scotts direction of the punt, they didn't compliment one another at all

he's doing a pretty good job, same with the punter, two so so punts against 40 MPH wind gusts shouldn't signal demands for a new punter, this kid has a great leg, had a 60 yarder two weeks ago, dropped another couple inside the 5 yrd line in the last month.
At his best, he's mediocre. And after Zook, he looks " God like ". As for Scott, we've seen the past 2 winters, he really falls off. I expect more of the same.
Yes, I realize he has a great leg, pretty much every punter does. I'm not demanding he be replaced, I want better competition next Spring. If somebody beats him, so be it.
special teams production has improved, and ya don't need to look at stats, it's obvious, same with Scott over the previous few punters we've had, and not all punters boom it, his directional kicking has been pretty good and his hang time allows our coverage to usually stop returns for short yardage, I think people just look for something to bitch about, he kicks against the weather, and the wind is almost always a factor.

sure bring in competition, but I don't want anything to mess with this kids confidence, we didn't spend a draft pick on him to just dump him over a couple weather affected punts, or poor coverage he has no control over.
By any measurement, Mennenga is not a good special teams coach. This year alone the pack has had a blocked punt, given up a 91 years punt return for a TD, and were only in week 10. The Packers haven't even come close to a long punt return. And don't tell me I'm just complaining to complain. Settling for average or below average is not what championship teams do.
If you're happy with Mennenga's special teams compared to Zook's, that's a pretty small measuring stick you're using.

Agreed!! In addition to the things you mentioned above, I would also add that our return specialists also look very sloppy and undisciplined. Crosby is playing the best in his career, but he has been here for over a decade before Mennenga started coaching him.

Mennenga is not even an NFL-caliber coach, he was simply the guy we hired out of desperation because Murphy reportedly pissed off Darren Rizzi, and then we had no other options.

I'll cut a tiny bit of slack with him as far as injuries to a couple of special teamers last week. But even at full strength they've been sub-par.
I'm not a big fan of seeing people get canned. But this is a dog eat dog sport, and this guy makes a pretty good buck when it's all considered.
Other than a Superbowl win, I have to think Pettine is gone next year. And since they'll be cleaning house, he can take Mennenga with him.

Can't wait .......... my Bear Week started about an hour ago.

Reminder: Packers hold a 99 to 95 edge, with 6 ties.

Packers are favored by at least 7.5 points. Some sites as high as 8.5 points.

I'll be happy with a W anyway we can get it ........... with no serious injuries. Anyone know how Linsley is doing?

Not sure how it’s looking for this weeks game, but it was reported it was a minor injury and not expected to be a long term thing.

Happy to report after one of the longest breaks bc of COVID from an NFL player that I have noticed...that AJ Dillon is in fact alive and plans to return to the team at some point.

Montravius Adams and James Burgess to IR. We claimed Anthony Rush from the Bears.

Rush is huge. Looks like my idea of somebody told to plug a hole and that’s about it. I like it.

People hate the fact that MVS is actually good when you look at the stats. Like, really good.
