We take a cap hit by trading Rodgers or him retiring...
Although retiring should be easy to set with a post June 1st designation, opening cap room.
100%. I wonder if we actually save some cap space in 2023 if he does retire since we would not pick up that $40 million roster bonus.

If Raiders move quick on Jimmy G here, we could probably ask for another 3rd.
Then hopefully the Commanders sign Jackson to an offer sheet.
Jets would have nobody, nor would Ravens, other than Aaron or Baker or trading up crazy high for a rookie.

It's become clear to me why there hasn't been an announcement yet: Rodgers is not trending on Twitter.
The audience is not yet in a frenzied enough state to maximize attention on one Aaron Charles Rodgers. Once this irrelevant (as compared to Aaron Charles Rodgers) economy ruining bank run news dies down, he will grace us with the important news of the day.

If he retires we could easily designate it as a post June 1 retirement.
Though in this case...I think I would rather force Aaron to sign it now rather than see him change his mind in July and we lose even more leverage. At least if the paper work is filed, we I believe have to agree to his unretirement and restatement with the team.

FA has opened, still no word from Rodgers.
Wisconsin Hostage Crisis of 2023 has officially begun.

Yes, that's why I said, "100%." What I am saying is that there is $14,575,000 in his current cap hit that needs to be picked up before week 1. So if he retires, does that save us that cap space? We could go after signing bonus too, if we wanted to,.but doubt we do that.

I really think Rodgers is retiring. They're just setting plans for the announcement. Kind of &%$@ if the Jets aren't aware of this but I'm guessing they are, but just can't say anything. Obviously don't want another team leaking that Rodgers is retiring.

As a fan, I would agree with you. That said, I do think that the Packer FO and Rodgers will operate in a good faith. So if Rodgers does retire, they would trust each other to file after June 1.

One of the Twitter feeds mentioned (reminded) that the Packers and Julius Peppers already had a deal done a few years ago when FA started. Peppers was already in Green Bay and nobody knew until they made the announcement.

He’s gonna retire, wreck are cap, then seek a trade in august.
Obviously.
Which is why the packers need to trade him now conditional on him playing at all in 2023. He doesn’t have a no trade clause. We can do this.

The fact that Rodgers hasn’t decided by this point tarnishes his “legacy”. Although a great HOF QB, this dude is an ass.
Good riddance either way.

Not too surprising. Gutey can blame himself due to the contract he gave rodgers. But other than the contract situation, at least Jimmy knows he wants to play next year
