GREEN & GOLD PACKAGE SCHEDULING
A preset formula assigns the Gold Package with one preseason game in odd numbered years and one preseason game in every other even numbered year, unless there is an international game. The formula also assigns the second and fifth games played at Lambeau Field during the regular season home schedule. The Green Package receives one preseason game in odd numbered years and one preseason game in every other even numbered year, unless the Packers are designated to play an international game. The formula also assigns the first, third, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth games played at Lambeau Field during the regular season home schedule. In seasons when Lambeau Field hosts a ninth regular-season home game, the Gold and Green Package will alternate which package receives the ninth game. The NFL determines the date, time and opponent of the games in the spring of each year.
17-GAME REGULAR-SEASON AND INTERNATIONAL GAME SCHEDULING FORMULA
As part of the enhanced NFL schedule that includes 17 regular-season games and three preseason games each year, the NFL began a new scheduling formula for international contests. This formula determined that beginning with the 2022 season, up to four of the teams from the conference whose teams were eligible for a ninth regular-season home game would instead be designated to play a neutral-site international game each year.
The international scheduling formula will impact the Packers during the 2022 season, with the recent announcement that the League has designated the Packers to play a regular-season game in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As a reminder, the NFC and AFC alternate hosting either nine regular-season games and one preseason game (the "9-1" schedule) or eight regular season games and two preseason games (the "8-2" schedule). In odd numbered years, the Packers have the "8-2" schedule. In even numbered years, including this coming season, it will be the Packers' turn to have the "9-1" schedule. Because the NFL has designated the Packers to play one of the nine games internationally, Lambeau Field will host eight regular-season games and one preseason game in 2022. The international scheduling format has now begun an eight-year cycle, which means the Packers will not be designated to play another international game until 2030. However, the team may serve as an opponent for other teams that are designated to play internationally during the eight-year window.
To ensure that this format is equitable for each season ticket package, neither package will be impacted when it comes to their allotment of regular-season games when the Packers play internationally. Gold package will continue to receive two regular-season games and Green package will continue to receive six regular-season games. With only one preseason game with the "9-1" schedule, Green package will receive the preseason game hosted at Lambeau Field this season.
Moving forward, when the NFC next has the "9-1" schedule in 2024, the Gold package will receive the ninth home game at Lambeau Field, and the Green package will receive the preseason game. In 2026, when the NFC has the "9-1" schedule again, it will be the Green package holders' turn to receive the ninth home game at Lambeau Field, and the Gold package will receive the preseason game.
NFL FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING
"Flexible scheduling" will be used in Weeks 11-18. Additionally, in Weeks 5-10, flexible scheduling may be used in no more than two weeks. In Weeks 5-17, the schedule lists the games tentatively set for Sunday Night Football on NBC. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game would be moved to an afternoon start time.
For Week 18, two Saturday games and the Sunday night game will be announced no later than six days prior to January 9. The schedule does not list Saturday games or a Sunday night game in Week 18, but games with playoff implications will be moved to those time slots. Flexible scheduling ensures quality matchups in all Sunday time slots in those weeks and gives "surprise" teams a chance to play their way into primetime.
Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday or Monday nights.
