We tend to blame the poor defensive performance on coaching. While the coaching is bad, I think we tend to overvalue our defensive players. They just seem overmatched all too often and individuals perform poorly.

Yeah, this if for me. Young team geling and progressing and getting healthy on O. Starting to see it in spurts, then you got MVP, I still contend enough talent on O to go where we want to go. D on the other hand. Just same old.
It's exciting though becaue there is somehting to build on in 2023.

But this defene needs a new system. I think we have a lot of great talent in places on defense. But need a new system and new safeties.

Thing that boggles my mind the most is how leaky the front 7 is on the run. On paper...this should be a strength of ours.
It was supposed to be a new system with Pettine. That didn’t last long enough.
The DCs come in and are aggressive when they don't have the players and when they get the guys they go soft as butter with all the read and react crap.

When you watch what we are asking our players to do and they can't execute it, that's coaching. Why do we give up so much on the ground? We are asking our DTs to play a 2 gap system they aren't good at. We play a lot of zone and give up a lot of middle of the field crossers. When we do play man we give it a huge cushion. I think there are guys like Savage that are not good, but the parts are there to be better than they are.

This may be the excuse the Packers need to shut Aaron down the rest of the year.
