Watson confirmed it was a hamstring tweak last night. MLF didn't divulge.

Here is a doctor's take. Personally I think he's out until Christmas at the earliest.

Looked like he reached higher up. If yhat is where the strain is, it is worse than lower.

Oh I know it’s hammy but Lafleur been pretty quick to tell us it’s not serious when it’s not serious.

The good news is we probably don't need as much firepower to defeat most of our remaining opponents.

Can we maybe finally get Aaron Jones back though, please? =\

Love this pickup. I remember liking him a lot.

Some info:

He played well for the Rams under Staley in the same-ish system we run, then went to Carolina where that Evo guy runs a system similar to ours, so he should be well-versed in the terminology and scheme basics

Nice.
Drafted in the 3rd, its a fair guess GB had him graded at least as a 4-6th level player. Totally worth bringing in and has some familiarity and experience in this defense as you noted. A month long tryout. Its also a chance to consider Long for a futures contract come January - potentially gives GB another CB to develop in OTAs and offseason. He has the requisite RAS.

Rasul is gone, Stokes is still a maybe and Ballentine isn't the answer going into 2024... so creating competition/depth at CB is surely on Gute's to-do list

With a little late resurgence as of late and some life.

Any chance the discussion will open up on if Bak could suit yet any more, even if January? Could be somewhat poetic if he actually suits up for a divisional round or championship game and help delivers a W.

Although the will he won’t he is almost more tiresome than Rodgers offseason stuff.

I don't know about suiting up this season, seems like a lengthy time without football might be best for his future health
However, I do think the Packers trajectory has him considering his future...might be in Green Bay. Recently married, recently a Father and he says he wants to chase a ring. Where better place than in Titletown to raise a family and hoist a Trophy ?

I do like that Gute is willing to turn over the bottom of the roster in season and look for guys. Always look for that gem, especially at RB and LB.

I dont see any reason to bring him back. Youve basically been burned two seasons in a row trying to bring him back and next year is for $40M.

we don't frequently agree, but I'm also very skeptical of bringing him back. 20 Mil in cap savings if we cut him loose.

pro tip: If you ever find yourself in agreement with lupe, run the other way

The contract will be structured accordingly and none of the $20M base is guaranteed. The $40 M cap number is merely a placeholder and anybody with an ounce of wit knows that. It was structured and agreed to to by both parties knowing it would be re-done. It merely creates the timetable.

Bak is still capable of elite LT play, but you can't count on his availability- both parties know this. The Packers will proceed as if they need to draft & develop a replacement while hoping he returns to reliability. If he does, he beats out the draft pick. If he doesn't, the Packers have his replacement in house. An elite LT is exactly what you want for Jordan Love- and while 1st round OTs have a high hit rate, its not 100% that they will succeed and less chance they'll be elite. So you give it a shot with Bak AND a top pick.

The Packers are on the hook for the prorated signing bonus whether they release him or not. You can spread it out into future years when you do the re-structure. Low salary + lots of incentives gets David and his agent on board while still going easy on the Packers 2024/25 cap. Bak needs to re-prove himself and the contract will reflect that. It ends up being a win for both sides. Its just business and both parties have their eyes wide open going into the 2024 campaign

I understand the reticence given his past- but that's up to the medical people and his 2024 viability will be quite obvious to him, his trainers and the Packers MDs during the offseason. At that point, he hasn't cost the Packers anything more than if he was released.

The Packers will take on minimal contractual risk and stand to reap a considerable reward if it all works out

Well, $20 mil additional.
