Halftime adjustments are a high school thing. Since a lot of people played, they understand that. In reality it is real time after high school since there aren't 2 way players.

Safety Jimmie Ward (Groin) OUT
Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (Knee) OUT
Linebacker Henry To’oTo’o (Concussion) OUT
Wide Receiver Robert Woods (Foot) OUT
Wide Receiver Steven Sims (Back) OUT
This was precisely why the TRAP game concept was intelligently removed from the pre game chatter. Perfectly rational logical thinking and reporting by Ringo.
Those that disagree can GPS where the sun don't shine.
So, to re-cap. Our defense played well because the Texans had a bunch of defenders injured? They were down Nico and back of the roster players on offense. You belong in a looney bin.
Keep it up and you might figure it out. Right now you're failing miserably.

One of the comments from Hafley's recent presser struck me as strategically brilliant

He was answering a question about using simulated pressures and he said that sometimes they are showing pressure just to force the offense to keep an RB or TE in to block. By doing that, its one less threat in the pattern...AND he is making the LOS the "battlefront" instead of letting the RB/TE take the battle out in to the flat - where they have the match-up advantage. Hafley just says, no thanks.
We'll have that skirmish right here on the LOS - where the RB/TE's superior athleticism is hindered. Advantage, defense

Our DC is really Impressive

Maybe this optimism will result in a Packers home field advantage throughout and an epic NFCCG in Titletown? :cigar:

Thoughts on today's performance include:

1) I really hope Evan Williams is not out for long and that Jaire is OK;
2) Edgerrin Cooper makes a lot of plays that I am unused to see a Packer inside linebacker make;
3) McKinney is rally smart and very good;
4) If the pass rush was not going to show up while we were up 10 in the 4th Quarter of today's game I am uncertain it will ever show up this season. And at this point I put the pass rushing woes on the players/talent not the Defensive Coordinator.

Big test coming up against the number 1 scoring offense in the NFL next Sunday.

Has anybody talked about how X baited the Jags QB? He literally showed the QB how he was going to go one way (following his read) but then turned back to jump in front of the receiver that he knew was coming. Result = INT.

Yeah, this guy just gets it. We haven't had an intuitive defensive player like this since Woodson.

Packers 2024 DVOA ranking through eight games is 12th, a marked improvement over 27th in 2023.

Very surprised to see Detroit's D is ranked 3rd.

Minnesota is 1st and Chicago is 10th (probably higher if no Hail Mary's included). :)

The NFC North is no joke this season.

Eugene Robinson comes to mind as well. Leroy Butler's sack blitzed were priceless too.

No one could run a pick 6 like Woodson.

Eugene's career in GB was just too short! Glad we had him for a time.

We tend to key in on specific statistical short-comings - at least perceived short-comings when it comes to pass rush - but the bigger picture clearly shows an efficient defense that combines pass rush and coverage that makes things difficult for an opposing offense.

Those Joe Barry 3rd and short defensive alignments where the CBs would be playing 8 yds off the LOS seem like such a distant memory now...

Thanks for the stats :aok:

We miss Williams. Between McKinney and Williams, we have had as good safety play as any team in the league. It's a shame we don't have Williams for this game.

Pack's D has slipped to 13th in DVOA and 13th in opponent's points per game.

I'm going to take the optmistic view and hope that Jaire and Evan Williams get healed up over the bye, some combination of LVN/Mosby/Cox lights a fire at edge, and Kenny Clark finally makes an appearance over the final 8 games of the 2024 season.

The Packers D has plenty of games on the 2024 schedule to become the premier defense in the NFL. The defense will get better and better.
