My absolute least favorite thing about the current draft format is that there is an entire news cycle after only one round. It sets the whole narrative before most of the interesting stuff happens.

I honestly sincerely hope to not select Thursday just to avoid the hot takes for a day and come back with 3 or 4 picks on Day Two and let the draft news cycle be about 4 players instead of about one.

That's just an observer's perspective. I want to trade back out of round one for analytics and positional depth reasons, as well. But that aside, just to avoid the narrative-building, I like no picks.

I hope the Lions are eagerly targeting some garbage player that we have off of our board for medical or character reasons and that they throw us their comp 3rd and early 4th to jump up back into round one. It's perfect trade value and the coveted 3-for-1 deal. And if we don't like a player, putting that guy to a divisional foe won't phase us (inter-division trades have happened before, but they do seem to be a bit less common)

Obviously all of this goes out the window if we stay put and pick Zaven Collins, Greg Newsome, Rashod Bateman, or any other pick I deem upon a moment of reflection to be likable.

My biggest hot take, I'm not slobbering over Kyle Pitts.

Feel like there is a lack of non-QB blue-chip prospects at the top of the draft, so he prolly should/will go top 10. But I'm not calling him a generational talent at WR (he's not really a TE).

I'd take Jeudy and Lamb ahead of him a year ago.

Yeah, I gotta say I love the old format better, start at 9 am Saturday morning and go till 8 pm, knock out 3 rounds, rinse and repeat to the finish on Sunday.

Was way better. I hate waiting day to day but I understand it makes more money.

n the right fit Pitts could be the Justin Jefferson of this class, at least according to a article I read about a week ago, he's a coverage night mare, to big for most CB's, to fast for most safety's and lbers, he's being compared to guys like Calvin Johnson, just from the little bit I've read the kid has a huge ceiling, as to the blocking and other inline TE stuff,it's a learned skill set, he can improve those things, it's possible Pitts could be the highest TE picked ever, if teams weren't over drafting QB's he could have went top 5

I bet Belichick is eating his heart out just dreaming how he could use Pitts.

le Pitts:
🔸 6' 5 5/8", 245 lbs
🔸 Wingspan: 83 3/8"
🔸 40-yard: 4.44

Calvin Johnson:
🔹 6'5", 239 lbs
🔹 Wingspan: 82"
🔹 40-yard: 4.35

I trade up for farley if he gets by AZ. That kid is special. I love everything about his game and him and Jaire are the best duo by Dec. I'm not a dr but if they think he will make it through his rookie contract I'm moving up

A 3rd or 4th esp a future doesnt bother me. Lindslay should net a nice comp in 22.

I like Barmore alot also. His upside is nice. Idk if I'm moving up but all depends on who is still on the board in the 20s.

Headed to Cleveland tomorrow AM. Cant wait.

Id be shocked if we moved up for Farley. Maybe if he falls to 29. This is the most conservative medical staff in the league. It was reported the Packers were going to take Myles Jack until they brought McKenzie in for an opinion before the pick and he told them not to.

Well I sure hope we acquire a player in the first round of the draft that can contribute to our team and help us win a title on Thursday. The later we wait to select someone the lower the statistical chance the player will succeed.

If he falls to 29, we definitely should not move up, unless we already moved up or down, then we should move up!

Hits keep coming for Farley. I feel bad for him, rough draft process for him.

I thought Caleb Farley's name was Caleb Fairley until yesterday and no one corrected me

YoHo, if I spent my day correcting spelling and grammar on this site, well, I'd have to ask for a salary.

I'm so split on Toney.

Added to our team, I'd absolutely love what he brings. He'd be dynamic and interesting right away.

But I feel like the success of Tyreek Hill has really warped the draft value of gadget players. I know Toney MIGHT improve his route running and become a complete receiver. But right now, he's a gadget; probably should play 15-20 snaps a game, but they might be awesome snaps.

I would LOVE him at the end of round 2 or more so in rounds 3/4. That's where I see guys like this value-wise.

But that's not possible anymore. If you want one, you have to take him early. And like, Amari Rodgers is a better wide receiver than Kadarius Toney right now. Amon-Ra St Brown is a better WR right now. They aren't as dynamic and they don't have the ceiling, but they're better and more complete. They have better hands, they run better routes. They understand the game more. And that's all without the fact that this guy might choose a music career over a football career if he faces adversity.

And they're going to go 40 picks after this guy.

So I'm stuck between a player I like and a role I want... and a draft value climate that conflicts with my own. It's causing major dissonance. I genuinely considered listing Toney on BOTH lists of players I want and don't want.

I've seen enough of Koney to think he isn't just a slot/gadget guy for sure. I think he is a bona fide legit WR.

I'm sure he'll probably have some limitations, probably don't want him lead blocking on screens and runs like a Lazard or EQ, but he actually is a very willing physical blocker, but I think the guy can line up anywhere and run any route, coupled with obscene jet sweep/gadgetry play, really good hand catcher, I am 1,000% on board.

The guy has generational start and stop, COD, Barry Sanders-eque moves. Add him to my I'd throw in a 4th to move up to like 23-24 to get him.

Yeah, BF004, you're probably right. I guess I do want him. He certainly fits the bill of the type of player I've wanted. I just wish he was a year younger and a year further along in his development for nuance if he's going to go early.

Also, he came in at 5'11" 194 at pro day, that is not small.

Greg Jennings was 5'11" 197 at the combine for comparison.

At least he's not one of the 24 year olds. 22 isn't bad and only turned 3 months ago.

Yeah, I'm not particularly concerned about his size; more just his usage, his late breakout in college (which has been predictive for some-odd reason), and the amount of nuance, discipline, and understanding we generally demand of our starting WRs.

Like MLF can scheme for him and it'll be great. But taking the next steps and becoming a trusted Rodgers target might take more. But then again, maybe he'll be catching balls from Love by then
