Re: Aaron Freaking Rodgers

There's no way LeVar Burton doesn't get the job, right? I mean he's the freakin' Reading Rainbow guy and was on Star Trek TNG. Even Rodgers can't compete with that!

There is a term from the Lombardi era called "ARRIVING".Drj820 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021 15:19I agree with ya. I think he tenses up when the moment gets big and tight. It shows in his body language and players feed off of that energy. It sometimes seems like he may be going to quick or forcing things.Acrobat wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021 14:53That's why I said that there were other factors that played a role in the losses. But I still firmly believe that Rodgers has not played his personal best in the last 4 NFCCGs.Yoop wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021 13:35
you can't pin any of those losses on Rodgers, this isn't Brett Favre where talking about, who did actually snatch defeat from victory in more then a couple playoff games, Rodgers can't run the routes for the receiver or catch the ball, AR has been the least of our problems in playoff games, most of it is either lack of talent or lack of coaching.
I still think this team is abysmal without him and he played better than some give him credit for in last several years of McCarthy.
They didn't "need" one. Culpepper just came off his best season which was MVP runner-up good. He was a monster in 2004.Labrev wrote: ↑23 Apr 2021 11:45I'll never understand why (yet always enjoy the fact that) the Vikings needed a QB, had *two* 1sts, yet chose not to use one of them to roll the dice on a QB prospect that many had believed was the best in the draft. Instead they got a bust WR (like MVS with even worse hands) and JAD edge-rusher.
you are a few years off. Dustin Keller was 2008. Jets traded pick 26 to the Raiders before the draft, then that pick was used to trade up to 23 (Seahawks) and the Raiders took Fabian Washington.
The Redskins traded into Pick 25 immediately after we took Rodgers so that they could take Jason Campbell.
What's crazy is that they made that trade before the draft, likely expecting it to be Campbell. Had we not taken Rodgers, I wonder which QB they would have picked. It sounds absurd, but I was at the combine that year and numerous scouts referred to Campbell as "possibly the best QB in the draft" but it would have been tough to convince a front office to put their money where their mouths were on something like that.
Dang, I have no memory of Culpepper being any good post-2000 season hype. Well he picked a great time to show up...NCF wrote: ↑23 Apr 2021 12:18They didn't "need" one. Man, I hated Culpepper back then. That "rolling" celebration he did was so annoyingNCF wrote: ↑23 Apr 2021 12:18They didn't "need" one.
