The hats the guys were wearing on the sidelines are stocking caps. This is what I think a beanie is:

Its so funny how i have learned there are so many different names for those depending on where you live.

We used to always call them toboggans. But now I think toboggans are the big ones that are loose on the top of the head. I certainly call what those guys were wearing "beanies". I have never heard anyone actually call them skull caps like Troy suggested. I thought skull caps were more similar to tight fitting durags. I have also never heard them called stocking caps.

I think it is interesting how different geographical areas have such different names for them!
 tobaggan? You southerners....

It's a stocking cap.

Some stocking caps have a ball on top. Other stocking caps have no ball on top (these could be called beanies too to emphasize no ball on top)

Toboggans are large sleds. I have never heard of that term for a hat. And I come from an area that actually requires head apparel. Of course we can also just call it hat in the winter and everyone knows what you're talking about
stocking HAT, Caps have bills in front to keep your glasses dry :thwap:

a lot of people in these parts call them chukes, not as much these days as years ago, I wore them for years, now Cromers are all the hype, made locally, your not a styling Yooper without one :aok:

Either I've never heard of them referred to as "chukes" or your spelling is so far off I have no idea what you mean... :?:

I think he meant "touques" but I've only ever heard Canadians call it that.

Or maybe it is "cukes" as in cucumbers???

Edit: Oh wait a minute! At least one definition sort of agrees with Yoop:
chuke
A head covering usually made of wool which can be unrolled to cover ears.

Very interesting given that PFF graded both in our bottom 5 defenders.

I figured there would be a chuke definition somewhere was just to lazy to look, thanks CL Starks :aok:

also spelled chook, is also called the Yooper Hat, indigenous to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to help fight off the harsh winter conditions common to the territory.

obviously people that grew up in the banana belt of southern Wi. would probably not require heavy duty wool head protection, and would have never heard of a chuke :rotf:

My silly rant of the day.

Why does it bother me that both Troy and Buck can't even think of what a beanie is called, let alone conceive the idea of wearing one?

I'm thinking about calling them the hairspray boys from now on. Wouldn't want them to lose sleep at night for fear of what a BEANIE might do to their hair or reputations.

Yeah. I think the skull caps are normally synthetic and not knitted. Plus, they fit very close to the skull. (Eh?) Maybe some players still wear them under their helmets.

The more I think about this game, the more that I think that the Rams weren't seriously contending with the Pack. Yeah, they got two big chunk plays. Aside from those, what did they have? It was actually impressive how much the Pack dominated the Rams, making them look like Lions. This was while we still are missing how many starters?

I am really disappointed in the media coverage the last month or more. These types of cutups are now few and far between. The All-22 reveals so much.

I wasn't joking when I said the score showed it was an 8 point ball game.

But honestly this had the makings of a 50+ to 14 ball game. The Packers absolutely dominated this game. And that's really crazy considering how much the offensive line didn't excel.

The defense, Aaron Rodgers, every WR not named Lazard and Dillon just dominated.

For the past two years, I have pumped up this Oline a LOT. Especially during the offseason.

But for the past few weeks, I have started to really shift my tune on the Oline and was probably the most "cautios" on giving the Oline props last Sunday. Frankly, I thought they struggled a lot and gave credit to AJ Dillon and Rodgers for performing despite the Oline. With the caveat of understanding the opponent.

Andy Herman came out with his grades and honestly is far more aggressive in his evaluation of the Oline play than I was. At this point, the Oline is probably the most concerning group of our football team at this point.
