I was thinking this earlier this morning.

Very much a real contract

Probably one of the realist contracts I've ever seen for a Packer.
Eh, it looks more like 2 years and we'll see, to me. Those roster bonuses are not guaranteed. The out next year would be really tough because of the unamortized signing bonus, but if he sucks after two seasons, I'd gladly eat $13M to get out of the rest of that.

The good thing (and this is always the Packers MO) is that if he is good, the deal is pretty straightforward pay as you go.

he better turn out a lot better than his past performance says he is, we just made him our highest paid OLiner a year prior to having to resign players that have a track record with better performance than him, I am reading articles that say we should have gotten him for 3 years for 10 K a year, what will be the demands of Jenkins, or Toms, or even Rhyan?

and there are still 3 or 4 decent Guards available :dunno:

The signing bonus is big so he would have to be really bad to be cut in year 3. It is likely a 3 year contract with a 4th year team option.

Of 66 guards who played at least 500 snaps in 2024, Banks was No. 32 in Pro Football Focus' grades. That was the best mark of his career, especially as a run blocker.1 day ago

so we get conflicting reports, why/how does PFF grade a guard as average in the league who only surrendered one sack in 1068 snaps, doesn't add up to me, his best grade from them is run blocking.

good article that points to his upside and run blocking stature, just not what I expected from Guty.

To be fair, signing a guy to his 2nd contract means you expect their best football is still ahead of them.

absolutely, and it may be, but how much better, I trust Guty when it comes to UFA, he's hit on most signee's, this one though seems out of his norm in the money sense of it

Seems like a significant overpay for this guy. Hopefully he proves me wrong.
