I would also like to give fair criticism to Aaron Jones's boneheaded plays before half.

First he goes out of bounds at our own 10 yardline when we are trying to run out the clock on 2nd down.

Then 1 play later, beautiful 75 yard play, but then fails to go out of bounds when we could have saved a timeout there.

Sack and two &%$@ ST plays later, SF has the ball at the 50 to start the 3rd quarter.
Aaron Jones played that 75 yard pass about as poorly as anyone could do while actually making the catch. Just put on the jets and run along the sideline.

At worst you are tackled out of bounds at the 20. At best you actually beat Ward on the angle and get into the EZ.

Yep, Jones is not off to a promising playoff career thus far.

Yes we were screaming about this as it happened. Like WTF are you doing. You're faster than the guy chasing you. I think he would have scored.

Jones had a bone headed play, he had a very good game overall. Not his fault we stopped handing him the ball after we leaned on him to get us into FG range in the second half.

Even the reception was quality. Rodgers threw it a bit high, put him in an awkward position. The play, while silly...should have warranted us 3 points no matter what.

He had 170 all purpose yards total in the game. Not a poor game at all.

Why are some so defensive for fair criticism?

The guy made two mentally poor plays. He fumbled last year.

Circumstances be damned, at the biggest moments, he is making his worst mistakes.

I agree, he's 1 reason we were still in it. But it was absolutely a bone-headed play. At the very least, if he doesn't think he can beat the guy, you go out of bounds. He's been around long enough to know that. Can't make those mistakes.

This forum is so weird that way.

It's like nobody can do wrong if they did other things well.

I just dont think it is fair criticism. He did have a very poor game against TB in 2020.

But I just dont think he had a poor game against the niners. 170 all purpose yards, leading rusher, leading reciever (as a rb). He had a bone head play, sure, but it wasnt a fumble or anything. It should have only cost us a TD at most. The quality catch should have at minimum warranted us a FG.

yeah...it was a bone headed play. One play. Doesnt mean he had a bad game. He was solely responsible for 64% of our offensive production.

Many times I am on your "run the ball more bandwagon". But I am not this game.

The 49ers absolutely sold out to stop the run after our first two drives. At that point, you need to make them pay for that with their bad secondary. We should have passed the ball. Where it went wrong is it appeared they kept looking for the big play (and Adams stare down) when they should have been content with the 3 - 7 yard passes to stay ahead of the sticks.

leading receiver is the real issue for me, Adam contributed as usual, over coming the double team for 90 yrds, and whether Lazard or any of the others where open any more then a few times Rodgers chose Jones as his #2, basically that seemed like the game plan, we really missed Big Bob Tonyan late this season, and minus another threat even comparable to Adams opposing DC had all the film needed to limit Tae's production, and Jones looked gassed out on that long reception, it's hard to lay a lot of fault there on him.

lots of people saying Rodgers played terrible, I tend to agree with that assessment, we've seen at least one situation of Lazard being open, Mercedes fumble shouldn't have negated him the rest of the game, I saw him wide open several times for short gains, Rodgers dealt with heavy pressure most of the game, but it's not as though that hasn't been the case often this year

Its the same principal as, if the Packers don't win the SB every season, its a bad season. He made 1 bad play so its a bad game. I think that's how this works.

I didn't even say he had a poor game. I said he made two bone-head plays. Unfortunately one directly resulted in us losing points.

I don't get why that's a hard concept to grasp.

Huh. I see it very different. I see the drive mainly on the shoulders of Adams.

First play Adams gets us 6 yards to set up a 2nd and 4. Then it takes two runs to barely get a 1st down.
Jones then gets two runs in a row that gets us 9 yards (very awesome) but it's basically all Adams and a key Lazard conversion after that.

Lot of 1 to 3 yard plays to Jones that had to get subsidized by others to move the chains for the exception of the 2nd 1st and 10 series.
