Official 2020 NFL Draft Thread - NO SPOILERS!!!

Post by TheGreenMan »

This year is rather different, and who knows what we have in store from the broadcast and media, but please no draft spoilers if we hear them ahead of time, if we can help it. A lot of us just watch live, and do not jump on social media during the break of picks being announced.

I'm not really one of those people, however some of our members do nothing but eat, &%$@, and breathe the draft. Try to keep any spoilers to a minimum until after the official announcement!

ANYWAYS.

We've done our scouting and research. And all of us think we're Mel Kiper Jr, without the hair.

The smoker is going all afternoon, I'm stocked up on beer for the remainder of the day. I'm killing time by finishing up yard work and planting a bunch of crap my wife picked up from a greenhouse yesterday (she is always under the impression the draft is for one night 😂🤫). I don't think my day can be spoiled unless we a draft a punter in the first round.

GO PACK GO!

Let's end with some questions:
  • What if the Bengals pass on Joe Burrow, are they the laughing stock of the league?
  • Do anyone really think New England will make a move for a QB in the first round?
  • Who will be the random name called in the first round tonight?
  • How far is Tua going to fall?
  • What if the Packers don't select a WR or ILB in the first round, does this place riot?

They won't, but if they do they will be.
They will.
Jaylon Johnson - though not so random as we get closer.
Not far. Doesn't get out of top 15, still probably top 10.
It shouldn't.

1. Yes
2. No
3. I dunno what counts as random, but I'll throw out Jeff Gladney
4. I don't see it happening
5. I'll take an OT without rioting; no secondary players, though.

  • Does a RB go in the first round this year?
  • Will WR's start to slide, knowing this draft is full of WR talent?
  • How much food are you going to eat tonight?

They won't, but yes
Yes
Chase Claypool
Won't get out of the top 10
Only those who will riot because we picked the wrong WR or ILB.

Keeping it simple tonight. Pizza and beer. Tomorrow, slow cooking ribs. Saturday, smorgus board of snacks including deer sausage and aged swiss cheese.

ImageGunna order some Gallaghers Pizza tonight. They make an incredible gyro pizza. Got some randoms on hand like sour cream and onion Pringles, gardettos and chex mix, whatever the heart desires in the moment. Swiss cheese, muenster cheese and some crackers, got some deer sausage thawed.

Lots and lots of beer and liquor. Got my curbside pickup yesterday.

Not sure about tomorrow yet. Would love to grill out if the weather participates.

Todd McShay has COVID-19, off draft broadcast

ESPN analyst Todd McShay will not appear on the broadcast of the NFL draft, he revealed today.

McShay has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be participating in the show.

“I’m so sorry to tell you I won’t be working the NFL Draft this year,” McShay wrote on Twitter. “I’m home recovering from coronavirus. For now, I just want to say I miss you all — my teammates at ESPN who have been incredibly supportive, my friends in the league, and the fans who have made the Draft what it is today. I also want to assure you I’ll be back, thanks to the tireless work of healthcare workers and first responders. You are truly our nation’s heroes.”

ESPN and NFL Network are jointly televising the draft, while ABC is televising a separate broacast. McShay had been scheduled to be part of the ABC show.

As much as I love Lamb, and I definitely don't OBJ love him, I would honestly be a little disappointed if we did something like give up a 2021 1st rounder to get Lamb.

BIGGEST reason being why the hell just not trade for DeAndre Hopkins??

Yeah, we could probably trade back to like 40 - 44 and get him, I'd be happy with that. :P

So I can put this here in advance:

Here's what I SUPPORT drafting tonight:
  • WR (with exceptions)
    OT
    ILB
    trade out of the round
trade up (for Ruggs, Jeudy, or Lamb)
Here's what I'm prepared to talk myself into being ok with tonight:
  • CB
    QB
    DT
    RB
    OC (probably only Ruiz)
    TE (probably Kmet only)
trade up for any WR, ILB, OT
    Tee Higgins
Here's what I unapologetically will oppose tonight until proven otherwise:
  • S
    OG
    EDGE
trade up for any position outside of WR, ILB, OT
    Chase Claypool

Still just a have a hunch this year, especially after all the 'consensus media boards are off this year', we are gunna end up with a Lloyd Cushenberry or something seemingly ridiculous, at the time.

If anyone has access to Bob McGinn's mock, would very much appreciate sharing it.

I have that feeling too..a guy nobody expected.
I will have a !@#$ fit if they draft a cb, qb,rb, or edge guy at 30.
Hoping if they do trade up ir doesn't cost them too much pick wise..however..they do have 10 picks..and not a whole lot of cap room. I could see them coming out with 7 or 8 picks.
