Here's how this works:

Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll. You may vote up to TWO players (a change that was made mid-poll last year, seemed to work well).

Simply voting is not enough!

Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 15-20 guys, new players added in bunches every few days).

Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

Doubs again.

Folks, I get that Doubs does not have the explosive playmaking of a Reed, Wicks, or Watson, but the poor guy catches a lot of balls every damn game and has great rapport with QB1. His game may not be sexy, but his yardage does not count any less to our total offense than the other WRs.

As to the idea that WR4 cannot be ranked this high... what gives people the idea that there will be some clear hierarchy between our top four WRs, where Doubs will get significantly less snaps than whoever is third? Leaving aside the impact of injuries, WRs 1-4 will probably not have any major disparity in snaps between themselves.

My take has always been that I do not know which of the 4 WRs will emerge as our top 2/3 this season. Any one of the 4 could.

If Doubs gets injured, would the offense miss a beat? I think not. Dude makes some plays, no doubt and I like him a lot, but the plays would still be made whether he's on the field or not. He's a terrific option as WR4 but he's still WR4.

I'm going Valentine, who I believe grabs that CB2 position and runs with it, along with Rasheed Walker who I believe remains the starter at LT. Two STARTERS (yes, I presume...but it's my vote...bite me) at premier positions still on the board.

Next was tough but with the talk that Stokes is looking in the best shape in his career he's gonna get every shot at cb2 and if he plays even at his rookie level the guy will make a a big contribution

Hard to put him over doubs but cbs matter also.

I'm struggling so much hereto figure out where to go.

There are a lot of very likely solid starters--Nixon, Doubs, Myers

There are a lot of guys who if they win the starting spot might be in that former group--Morgan and Walker, Valentine and Stokes, Cooper...


And then there are the guys who have the highest variance outcomes; guys who may be nothingburger role player or who may break out. I think rookies like Bullard and Cooper or a handful of other guys are likely starter/role players, but if they hit could really be difference makers.

I gave a vote to a solid starter type (Doubs) and to a "if this hits, it HITS" guy in Bullard. At this junction, I really still prefer the latter category: guys who could be difference makers IF they hit, and guys I believe in. LVN is another in that category. The fun of a no-specific-criteria vote is determining how we value these different player variances.

I feel like Doubs has more explosive playmaking then some think. I have watched him beat corners deep many times and unfortunately the QB wasn't always able to get him the ball. He has a little Greg Jennings in him. I watched some youtube on him tonight and he is an impactful player. I knew this but I had to be reminded. I agree with #23 that any of the 4 WR could emerge as the top 2 targets. I think all are really good and weirdly all of them impact at the position differently.

I watched the replay of the 2022 game vs. Dallas when Christian Watson dropped a couple of passes early, and then scored 3 TDs. The route running that broke Watson free on these plays were based on his speed and ability to separate from unprepared Dallas DBs. Doubs, Reed, Wicks along with Watson and Musgrave (what the heck through Toure and Melton in there if they can make the team) could be the second coming of Jennings, Driver, Jones, Finley and Jordy. Musgrave and Craft have some work to do to prove they belong in the Chmura-Jackson conversation. Let's hope so.
