Packers deserving of Pro Bowl, All Pro, CoY honors?

Post by salmar80 »

Pro Bowl voting is open until Dec 23rd. The actual Pro Bowl Games will be a joke, but for the player, getting voted in means prestige and cash.

So, which Packers are deserving of the honors?

I personally think we have only one shoo-in: X. Then there are several borderline candidates. But I don't follow the league entire closely enough to really compare. What do y'all think?

EDIT: Let's expand this to the other honors.

Whelan and Jacobs. They should be in the convo. Zach Tom has played like it, but still isn't a household name. Tucker Kraft, maybe a longer shot, but still a couple of weeks to impress the voters. Jordan Love, not even close right now, but if he goes on a tear here and the Packers keep winning, maybe another long shot. That about does it. No one on our no name defense will come close. Even if J Reed goes on a tear, WR depth and production is too much for him to make a dent at this point.

If I had to rank them from most likely to least likely:

Xavier McKinney
Josh Jacobs
Tucker Kraft
Zach Tom
Daniel Whelan
Jordan Love
Jayden Reed

If I had to guess, I'd say we are limited to X and Jacobs with some of those other guys landing as reserves.

The only two that will get in are X and Jacobs. Tom should be in the conversation but the Lions, Eagles, and Vikings all have better RTs. He might make it as a replacement.

I’d say just X and Jacob’s, as well.

And that’s not a bad thing.

Let those other players get the votes while our guys stay hungry and cheap.

X should be a given - has name recognition and the INTs to boot.

Jacobs is extremely probable, but whether he's RB 2 or 3 depends on how voters view stats vs role. Jacobs is more of a legit workhorse, whereas Gibbs has the edge in yards per carry and TDs.

I really have no idea about other teams' punters, but Whelan should get in for great punting as outdoors punter, and saved our bacon a few times as holder.

Tom has been excellent, but doesn't have the name recognition. Same with Kraft.

Seems like there's basically a consensus about the Pro Bowl nominees. So let's take this up a notch.

Do y'all think any Packers deserve to be named All Pro?

And do you think Matt LaFleur should get consideration for Coach of the Year? Or Hafley for Defense Coach of the Year? Or Bisaccia for STs CoY?

No player can be the GOAT - including Brady - because there will always be another player in the future who will be even better. How long did folks call Joe Montana the GOAT? Someday some future QB will surpass Brady's accomplishments but it might not be in my lifetime.

X should be All-Pro.

Maybe Whelan too (maybe)

The Eagles and Lions coaches would be more deserving for COY honors. Just my opinion. Packers are a Tier 2 team right now. That could all change with Packers WINS over Detroit and Minnesota. The cart should be after the horse soon.

I think X should be All Pro Safety
I think Jacobs has a shot at 2nd team All Pro RB but I think guys like Derek Henry will beat him out (Barkely is easily 1st)

Yes Matt LeFluer should be strongly considered Coach of the Year but he won't because for some reason he is unfairly overlooked by both Packers and non Packers fans. All of this is assuming the Packers have 4 or less losses this season.

If LaFleur wants CoY he will need to win out. If he loses this week Campbell is easily ahead of him and probably Siriani too.

If Washington makes the playoffs Dan Quinn might get some consideration for CoY. This is his first season with a rookie QB. I doubt many thought that team would be playing as well as they have been this year.

They really don't have any great wins. They are taking advantage an incredible split between the top and bottom of the league. I don't think Quinn will get any consideration. There are just too many legit teams that will be better than 12 wins.

I think he may get some passing consideration but no way he gets it ahead of some of the other guys previously mentioned nor any of the guys I'm about to mention no matter how the Commanders finish.

If I had a dark horse candidate, it'd be Jim Harbaugh. He took over a 5-win Chargers team and turned them into a contender in year one with basically the same roster. As much as I dislike him, that dude can coach.

I also think Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota deserves some serious consideration. He's leading a 10-2 team into a playoff run without his R1 pick and Sam f'ing Darnold as his QB. That's a feat.

The main reason I mentioned him is often a HC will garner votes because his team does much better than expected before the season starts.

McKinney, Jacobs, Kraft, maybe even Quay get pro bowl nods IMO.

Kraft is 2nd in TDs and 5th in yards in NFC, Jacobs is second in NFC in rush yards (and third in the NFL) after Saquon.
