Backthepack New years mock 2025!!

Post by Backthepack4ever »

I used to be able to put these out every month starting Oct but my work has changed. I miss the time and effort I could put in but I do still waste plenty of time looking at prospects ha

I still believe GB has a shot to win the SB. With that I think they will part ways with some and be able to sign some key FAs again in 2025

So here goes it:

Gone. Jaire Alexander

Just can't stay on the field.

FA adds

DJ Reed. CB.

About the same age as Ja but has played his best football of late. He's not elite but he's solid. He can lock on wrs and be trusted. We need guys that can stay on the field.

Chris Godwin. WR.

I love this idea bringing him in off yet another injury on a 1 prove it deal. You get a vet that can be a game changer. We saw without Watson this group struggled. Bring in Godwin to show out and get a pay day in 2026.

Nick Bolton lb

if he is strong around after the draft and can be snagged why not? Not great in coverage but a down hill Thumper. With Edge showing signs of super star up grade the position around him.

DRAFT

R1
Kenneth Grant. DL Much

The closest comparison is demarcus Lawrence. 340 lb freak athlete that the sky is the limit. Not the most talked about Michigan DL but will be the better pro. Some raw to his game but once he puts it together he's going to be a problem. Kenny Clark's replacement.

R2
Mike Green Edge. Marshall.

Might be my fav prospect and could climb to top 35. This class is loaded at edge but is in the eye of the beholder. GB needs to land one of them that can improve this group. Green is a little light but wow is he a wrecking ball. He has pass rush moves and a motor that doesn't stop. Double teams he fights through. Against OSU he was a problem. Led the nation
In sacks

R3
Jalen Royals. WR U State

This wr class sucks and GB won't be able to keep everyone. GB also shows without Watson out there they don't have that deep threat. Royals is just what the Dr ordered. Big play downfield speed demon that is a hands catcher. This guy has good size and gets open. On a bad class he's a day 2 steal

R4

Luke Kandra. OL Cin

Typical GB mid round OL pick that will become a 10 year starter. 2x all conference player that didn't have single penalty in 2023. He got bigger in 2024 and was the big 12s best lineman. Can play guard or center

R5
Domani Jackson. CB bama

Another freak list 5 star athlete that hasn't seen those traits translate to the field. Injuries and technical issues have held Jackson back. Get him with Haf for a few years and see if you can get that beast unleashed

R6
Oscar Delp TE UGA

Yet another bulldog freak TE. Delp was used in many roles. Though the production isn't jump off the page he made the most of it when called upon. Elite athlete with great hands and a Kraft style.... Yes please

R7
Eric Gentry LB USC

Versatile off ball backer. Good athlete with great size. New NFL style guy that could be a ST stud right away

Hoooweeee!

I absolutely love the first three picks. I think all players will go higher but my goodness.

I always, always, always love big boys. Get me a 340 pound DT who can move my stars. You take that. Especially because the league is trending back to being physical and running the ball.

As for Green, I love the undersized edge. We got big boys there and frankly think having a pass rush specialist at edge like a KGB on. 4-3 scheme would be great. He could play standing up. Doesn't need his hand in the dirt. I noticed Cox does that a lot.

This draft is loaded with DLine and Edge. Not loaded at WR. Love the hand and speed of the BYU kid. I mentioned in the 2025 draft thread that I'd have interest in drafting a WR before it became cool after losing two out of four games. Royals definitely looks the Packer type. And his hands look soft. Something I am getting quite lustful of this year.

You are going to get a lot of comments on how you didn't draft a CB in the top 100.

Packers definitely will need a center/guard. When Myers got hurt and they moved Jenkins rather than play Monk, it showed lack of confidence. Your choice of Luke Kandra is a very good one.

Godwin? Do we want another injury prone WR?

Getting DJ Reed is probably too rich for us as it looks like he will be the top CB and probably top 5 FA this off-season.

I'm wondering if a Mike Hilton for slot would be a better target. I don't like Nixon as the primary slot. I like him more as a depth outside guy and star/robber role as a role player.

no CB's till so late, ahhhhhhh :rotf: I think UFA is the way to go for both a CB and a WR this year, we'll have some jingle, and both positions could use a vet, especially if we trade Jaire, I like the stud DT from Mich, but what about the smaller one from Mi. who only weighs 318, pass rush still seems higher priority?

nice work :aok:

Well I don't think anyone wants guys to be injury prone but it might be the perfect storm. 1 year prove it deal. Low risk not expecting much for a guy that was on his way to his 4th straight 1000 yard campaign. We don't have a guy on the roster with a single 1000 yard season

I think it would be worth the look but I just read he still needs to have ankle surgery so who knows

Maybe you are channeling your inner Ted Thompson about Grant. As Ted would say, "God only made so many of those guys." If he is on the board for us, then TAKE him! Heck, trade UP for him.

Look at the age of most of those guys. A lot of them are 28 or older. Would Guty use FA for an older CB?

If the Pack is down on Jaire... (2 years remain on contract).
If the Pack is down on Stokes... (FA).

Then is this the year they draft a couple of CBs AND add a FA coming off a rookie contract?

The way I see it, we need a true blue field-tilter at corner -OR- pass-rusher (by which I do not necessarily mean a DE/edge, any front-seven position can be a force in the pass-rush). A guy who can cover the best WRs on an island for several seconds, or a guy who wins quickly up front. Both would of course be ideal and awesome, but I feel like one or the other would really elevate the defense.

So while yes I really want some CBs early and often in the draft, I can be okay with us not going that route, so long as we are getting the other thing. Which the OP did here so I'm cool with it. I don't really know enough about the draft prospects to have more of an opinion, but the position value checks out for me here. Nice job backthepack

Basically this draft is heavy in DLine and Edge. Like there are TON of propsects on Dline and Edge.

The draft is pretty weak at CB (whereas it was strong last year) and really weak at WR.

If we can get the best CB or WR in a weak class late in R1 or R2 we should look at it. This past year was bad for KB and great for OT. We got the #1 LB in R2 and wasted a pick on Morgan who was like OT6.
