This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
I guess I’m not understanding your meaning. Do you perceive it as divisive by opining whether certain players we assume are safe may not necessarily be?
No; what I'm saying is that if 5 or 7 people think Amari Rodgers might be a surprise cut, it means he's not really that surprising.
But he IS a polarizing player where some people believe strongly that he's safe to make it and some people believe strongly that he might not. Like the whole idea of a surprise is that it's unexpected. So if several people are predicting it to occur, it's no longer unexpected.

I don't think he will be cut, but I do think that he should. So it'd be surprising to me...
David Bakhtiari retires. His knee can no longer hold up to the rigors of professional football.
I sure hope not.
Ken Ruettgers tried playing in 1996 but had to retire .... he was on the 1996 roster and got a well-earned Super Bowl ring at least. Bakh deserves the same I think.

That might be the single biggest reason that PackerNation is holding its collective breath until week 1. Will DB play against the Vikes? And will he finish that game well too?

Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."
I don't think I'd do it if I was GM, but keeping Caleb Jones as the 9th OL and trading Nijman for a high pick is an option.
I really doubt they'd take Bak and Jenkins off PUP unless both will be ready for Week 1. If they won't be ready then only 7 OLmen would dress for the first game. That's just two injuries away from Mercedes Lewis being our LT. I guess what I am getting at is that all this versatility is a whole lot of unused ammo. Nijman could be converted to draft capital - a 2nd or 3rd.
All that said, I'd put Jones on the PS and keep Nijman.

Caleb Jones, from what I see and read isn't worth a roster spot. Very raw and it looks like his height is hurting him, as most guys that tall struggle with.
If Jenkins and Bakhtiari were not coming off injury it would be a nice thought. As it is, can't afford to be thin at tackle.

I had the same thought about trading Nijman. Problem is you could not get what you suggest for him in a trade. He is worth more to us at the moment. I am concerned about trying to stash jones and or walker on the ps though. Tough decisions.
With two coming off ACL tears and one who has been recovering way past league standards I don’t think you trade any OTs. Better safe than sorry in that situation.
I no longer think Amari Rodgers is going to be cut. I think he should be but he will get another year to prove he has no football smarts and not very good speed.
Suprise cut? Reed. Chris Slaton and Heflin have outplayed him and he was not very good last year.

While I agree Slaton and Heflin have had strong performances, on what do you base that they have "outplayed" Reed? I didn't think Reed played in any PS games due to starters sitting. He has also been part of the top defensive rotation from the outset of TC. In what ways has Reed been outplayed? By the fact Reed hasn't actually played?

Correct, he has not played. But he had only 2.5 sacks last season while being healthy and getting a boat load of snaps. By contrast, TJ Slayton had 2 in very limited snaps.
