Round 1 Pick 13 - Lukas Van Ness
Moderators: NCF, salmar80, BF004, APB, Packfntk
I told everyone at work today that JSN is my draft crush but I expect the Packers actually select LVN because he's the most Packer prospect to ever prospect.
And here we are.
And here we are.
I hope he’s better than Gary.
4 years in and Gary really hasn’t given us a whole lot.
1 year on the bench, 1 year as a rotation player, 1 very good year, 1 year cut short by major injury.
No telling what comes next. It’s no guarantee with what we just saw from Bakh.
Ya, I hope the 2023 #13 overall pick gives us a lot more than Gary has after 4 full seasons.

A guy his size can and will get stronger. A few months in the strength and conditioning program and he’ll be fine.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

I actually do believe he was the 2nd best player in the board but I am very concerned with the offense. The rest of the draft will determine how I truly feel.
Yeah, don't want a 1st round TE and most concerned with TEs. Don't need a 1st round RT/iOL, and that's what I want on offense. WR has talent, but needs experience; can't get that in the draft.
So I'm fine. But 42 and 45 and 78 have some pressure on them. Gotta get that a few bodies in there.
No the Kampman comp is apt. It's not simply white EDGE rusher from Iowa. Kapman's special sauce was his bull-rush; that's LVN in spades.

That's all Kampman was, that is not all Van Ness is.

Iowa has one of the best strength and conditioning programs. Packers have moved to components of HIT, a long discredited philosophy from the 80s (interestingly WI is now going to that, too). Most if not all growth in this area will be from physically maturing still. It is just if he can do it without losing his speed.Scott4Pack wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023 21:10A guy his size can and will get stronger. What I got from listening to his press conference.
He watched the draft in Fontana Wisconsin (I think Lake Geneva?). HIs parents have vacation home there.
Grew up a hockey kid.
Met Kenny Clark and Rodgers training in California. Plans to come in and learn from the veterans.
Essentially said he had two 5th year seniors in front of him that deserved to get the recognition as starters.
Gained 60 pounds his freshmen year.
Played DT his sophomore year, learned to play inside - faster game and more hand fighting.
Says he uses power to rush the passer and then counter moves.

No.
Limited knowledge tree of white players who played for the Packers or Badgers makes the most sense on this board.
I articulated why the Kampman comp makes sense you dolts.

Yeah. Gary is always the athletic comparison I heard predraft. I also heard Matthews as a comparison but that was more about the limited college playing time.
The dude is just huge.
