Minus Adams, And another star is born, last year it was Jones as a receiver, this year could it be the non concussion protocal ERVIN, my pick in this weeks player pick contest, there are times when ya feel something great is going to happen, might not be this, just seems like someone will have a statement game, maybe Barnes will have 10 tackles, or Sullivan with a pick 6, I'am rooting for Ervin to really burn NO though, the more players DC have to burn the mid night oil to game plan for the better.
Yeah, I do think, minus Adams, New Orleans is just not going to let us run Jones wild and throw a TD to Lazard. We are going to have to get creative and from what we have seen so far this year, I think LaFleur and Rodgers are definitely up to the task. I think Sternberger could have an impact in this one.Yoop wrote: ↑25 Sep 2020 16:50Minus Adams, And another star is born, last year it was Jones as a receiver, this year could it be the non concussion protocal ERVIN, my pick in this weeks player pick contest, there are times when ya feel something great is going to happen, might not be this, just seems like someone will have a statement game, maybe Barnes will have 10 tackles, or Sullivan with a pick 6, I'am rooting for Ervin to really burn NO though, the more players DC have to burn the mid night oil to game plan for the better.

Positive. I hope. Yeah, positive. Definitely.

I was actually getting ready to make a post that addressed this. Rodgers loves Adams as a security blanket, don’t get me wrong, but take him away and it forces Rodgers to look to other receivers and spread the ball. It also makes the offense much less predictable. Based upon last year, seeing Adams out doesn’t give me near the worry as I would expect. It actually makes me a little excited to see AR kick it up a notch and really make the offense hum.NCF wrote: ↑25 Sep 2020 14:55Weird...
It was Rodgers stats with Adams out last year. The big bottom line was 10 TD - 1 INT - 4-0 record. I think it was something damn near 70% completion %, too.
I mean let's face it. Adams was effectively a no-show last week and our offense was unstoppable.APB wrote: ↑25 Sep 2020 19:44I was actually getting ready to make a post that addressed this. i think three of the four defenses we played last year without Adams were atrocious, and last week he was at least a decoy early. Then later some of us probably could have gotten open against that atrocious D that was terrified of Aaron Jones. There was also not much tape last year on what a Lafleur offense would look like without Adams. Lafleur certainly passed the test with flying colors though!go pak go wrote: ↑25 Sep 2020 19:56I mean let's face it. I think the Saints will be much better equipped to stop our offense without Adams, than any team we faced last year without him.
Can we still win? Absolutely.
I just dont think its "not that big of a loss" or whatever just because we looked fine without him for 4 weeks last year. Not saying anyone here thinks its not that big of a loss, but i seem to hear that implied alot...all because we looked good against the Cowboys (8-8), Lions (3-12-1) , Raiders (7-9) , and Chiefs (Great win no doubt, but no mahomes).

No one would ever suggest the loss of Adams is, "not that big of a loss." APB and gpg sure didn't. He's a loss, a big one, but one we can survive. Rodgers was a better 2019 QB without him because he was forced to hit the open man instead of rely one 1 elite WR.
Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."
I’ve heard it from plenty of no nothings, but I said specifically I haven’t heard it put that way from people here.
If the convo is that it’s a big loss, but we can still find a way to do well on offense and beat the saints...then I agree!
But I would not think it’s a fact that Rodgers was a better qb without Adams. I think the game plans were forced to evolve faster. I think Jones was allowed to show what he can do because of Adams absence. But I think Jones could have shown us that even with Adams still playing.
I disagree that Rodgers was only looking at WR1 before Adams injury. If you remember, before the eagles game...Adams even made a friendly comment about needing the ball more. We had opened up against 3 great defenses.
The bears where Adams had 4 catches for under 40 yards.
The Vikings where Adams had a good game of 7 catches for over 100 yards.
And denver where Adams went 4 for 56 yards.
Now during the eagles game Adams was absolutely feasting. They could not stop him! He was leading us toward a victory in a track meet before he got hurt.
But I think Rodgers success in the next 4 games without Adams was more of a function of playing the Cowboys trash D, the Raiders trash D, the Lions in a sloppy nailbiter, and the chiefs in a great game/great win.
I just think the offense looking poorer to start was more brand new system/MUCH better defenses than Rodgers was a better qb without davante bc he had to look to other options. 2 of 4 games before he got hurt, Adams wasn’t very involved at all.

A lot to unpack here and a lot of good points from all.
Agreed with Pckfn 23. Never would I suggest that Adams isn't a big loss. He is currently a top 3 WR in the league. Uh yeah. He is a big loss. Huge loss.
As for 2019, I agree that Adams needed the ball more because of low production but that was more because the offense just couldn't get into rhythm. If you don't get first downs...nobody gets any shots and I think there then became an over-dependence on Adams because he was really the only known commodity on the offense at the time. And damnit....we just needed a play to move the chains.
Adams then gets hurt vs Philly and we were toast that night. But the positive is it did require Rodgers to look elsewhere.
I think the only two games where our offense looked really good was at Dallas and vs Oakland. We looked pretty bad and no identity v Detroit. KC....KC was some great plays by Jones and a monster throw to Williams in the corner of he EZ. But you could tell toward the end of that stretch that it was starting to become an over-dependence on Jones and that could be a problem too.
What I have loved about 2020 is the ball is moving out period. First and 2nd down have been super successful and the emergence threat of MVS and Tonyan is something to be really excited about. It's the willingness to have confidence in other playmakers that makes me so excited.
I low key think my two favorite plays this year have been the throws to MVS. The first one with 20 seconds to go in MN Qtr 2. Adams gets screwed on a review. We need a play. MVS turns up. The second one was last week. We get a holding call. Really the first this year and we are facing 1st and 20,...something the MLF offense has reeeeeaaaally struggled at....getting behind the chains. And boom. MVS down the right sideline. Just had to point those out.
As for this week. We won't have Adams. But they won't have Thomas. I can't think of a more even tradeoff.

please name QB's that don't rely and feed the ball to there best receivers, think about it, all things equal who would you throw the ball to MVS or Adams? seriously if it takes ya longer to answer this question then the time it took to read it, then you should be watching Monty Python 24/7 (love monty BSA) and rest your gray matter.
people still want to blame Rodgers for either the new scheme not being better last year or the insanity that went on the last couple seasons of McCarthy.
the 3.5 games minus Adams featured Jones, either as a WR/RB, or as a decoy to draw doubles easing the coverage on the others.
what we see now is everyone having more experience in the MLF schemes, and all are still perfecting this learning process, why would anyone here think this transition was a easy process, Rodgers was further ahead of anyone else last year and obviously now, Jones had a small play book, Adams a little bigger, and we've already seen a few articles that describe the timing issues that at times affected the play of all the receivers but mostly the younger guys last season, the other receivers and Jones stepped up when Adams went down and there timing to pitch point may have been better, or Rodgers just threw the pig anyway, and depended on a hope and a prayer the receiver would be there, when so often they have not been.
If you like what your seeing now, then you should be as upset as I'am that we didn't get to see it about 4 years ago when Rodgers said we need to make some changes.
the lack of reverence to our Hero is so upsetting to me, I seriously pray for you sick SOB's later

I don't think we need to jump to that conclusion, but worth watching closely over the next 24 hours.

MLF said himself Clark has a ways to go.
I would be surprised if they give Clark a go. But regardless it will likely be at half the snaps anyways.

Honestly, I am just glad that Clark is close enough to have started practicing this past week.

We have elevated Lovett and Shepherd to the 53.
Winn is activated from the Psquad.
Don't mean to toot my own horn....but I was like the only one on the Shepherd train in August.

For now its looking like the blues are favoring the apparent highly controversial Jordan Love fire lighting theory and Gutey and Murphy -- whereas the reds continue to revere our Hero, blame McCarthy and blame TT and blame Capers. Or do I have that backwards? Who fired McCarthy? and who hired MLF anyway? Why was Hundley on the team? I am trying to forget all that. Cripes aren't we something like 16 and 4 since the new regime kicked in? Why does this have to be so hardYoop wrote: ↑26 Sep 2020 12:52please name QB's that don't rely and feed the ball to there best receivers, think about it, all things equal who would you throw the ball to MVS or Adams? seriously if it takes ya longer to answer this question then the time it took to read it, then you should be watching Monty Python 24/7 (love monty BSA) and rest your gray matter.
