From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Reporting has been that Jaire has no interest in renegotiating his contract. It was reported that was why no team wanted to trade for him.
He needs to, and Hermans opinion is very logical, he wants a new team and still make 18 mil. this year, then that's the option,
HE doesn't need to do anything. He can play for the Packers and make more than $18 million. Should he play all 17 games and attend all workouts, he is set to make $21,399,999 this season. Should he attend no workouts and play no games he will make $16,150,000.
and you support that?
so we keep him, he plays another 7 or 8 games at roughly 2 mil plus a game, cause that's how this could end up? I don't

we cant reward his refusal to play for us imo unless we get real loot for him. I would rather pay him the 16m and have him sit at home and let him continue to pile up an injury prone reputation if he wants to go that route.
My position is simple:
If the Packers are tired of Jaires antics and want him out the door: they should get over it, we paid him the contract and we need him.
If Jaire is being a turd and refuses to play for us: we should not reward him by cutting him. we should pay him to sit at home and make him seem like a cancer heading into his new deal. Unless we can get trade compensation, then its all good either way.
amen
do you want to know what Bill Parcels or a Belichick would do, Alexander would take that Herm offer, which is very reasonable, or he'd polish pine for 18 games, as those coaches did whatever had to be done to replace him in a trade for a good CB, next year he is no longer a member of the Green Bay Packers.
I'am to old, and to damn GRUMPY to put up any more with these snivling prima donna's

it doesnt matter what you "want". Its called living with consequences of actions. The action in this case was making Jaire one of the highest paid corners in the league when he already had an injury history with the team.

the same consequences other team have to risk as well, and it sucks, I agree, but that's the price of extending studs, just look at the top dollar for CB's, Jaire would have gotten more had we not done the deal.
it's why I say these escalating contracts won't slow down till some kind of cap is installed, There are always owners who will cave to these demands, and to many of em end with these results.

Support what? I simply gave factual statements about Jaire's contract situation. If he doesn't play a down for the Packers in 2025, he still makes $16.15 million. There is just little reason for him to take a 1 year $10 million deal with $500K per game.
If both the Packers and Jaire are amiable, I want Jaire on the team in 2025.

I'm going to be honest. I literally do not care about Jaire's money. It doesn't bother me at all how much we pay him for him. We signed that contract; we have ample cap space; there's nothing worth spending that $7M in 2025 savings on anyway. I want them to keep him.
If they get a negotiated cheaper deal? So be it. Herman's per-game roster bonus idea, which the Packers have used before, is a fine one. But I don't care. Neither should you. I'm ALL about being cap friendly and managing the money, sure. But at this point? In this situation? We don't need the money for anything else. We don't have a better corner or a viable path to a replacement. Keep him. Play him. However that works.

fan goals are to have a better secondary, I get that, and most are willing to risk 17 mil that Jaire will play all season, or some are fine if he just plays 10 games, not me, his track record tells me he wont, and if that's the case it'll be the same as losing Tom in the PO loss, when we needed him most, Jaire was out with a surgery that could have been put off till the off season, there's less accountability/dependibilty with Alexander than we got from Bahktiari, or anyone else I can remember, your right, it's not just the money, it's dependability too.
the money is a sunk cost already baked in. I want him on the field for us. Or at his house on gameday if he refuses to play. Or at least a 3rd round pick for him.
Only option i do not want it to cut him, we eat the cap space we have to eat, and he is rewarded for his refusal to play by getting to pick a new team himself.

That’s not the correct way to think about it.
Sure there are cap hits for money we already gave him in the past.
But if he plays for us this year, we are going to have to give him an additional $17.5 million.
So it does make a huge difference if he plays for us or not this year.

3rd round is ambitious considering Jalen Ramsey is better, more durable, and went for that a year ago. Now hes on the block again. I would think teams are more willing to trade for him than Jaire.

I'm not sure that is right, either. Our CB room is paper thin. So, ideally we want someone to come in and be a vet maybe on a 1-year deal and in a perfect world let's say that is on no more than a $8M deal. That is still $9.5M in savings, but not nearly the $17.5 that jumps off the page. That also assumes we can get someone at that number. I would think a fringe-starter level vet would be closer to $10M. It depends on the player and the price, but I will still lean Jaire in many cases I can come up with.
Voting on pure hope he’s a Packer this season. He’s a quality albeit quirky player who has had some tough injury luck of late and lost faith in the Packer training staff. Hopefully they can find some common ground and reconcile.
If the Packers just outright release him simply to be rid of him, I’m joining @lupedafiasco’s Gutehate fan club and running for Club President.
I'll vote for APB regardless. Gutey has been given way too much slack.

Likely irrelevant cuz this is 2025 and this is not 1964. How brilliant Lombardi was shipping future Hall of Fame center Jim Ringo and mediocre / serviceable RB Earl Gros to the Eagles for the talented LB LeeRoy Caffey and a #1 pick. Surely the Gutensheissenbumpster can get a draft pick in exchange for Jaire. I'd take a #3 and pay half his guaranteed effen freakin' inflated salary to get this fragile misfit out of Green Bay. He's worn out his welcome.

It's curious to me how Jaire is viewed with such contempt for his supposed behavior issues and rumored injury/medical grievances yet Doubs gets little mention.
Doubs, you may recall, actually walked out on his team, and this was confirmed. It wasn't some anonymous report or Demovsky making &%$@ up, it actually happened.
Why isn't Doubs vilified on this forum as some horrible cancerous malcontent that needs to go?
