From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
I mean I think a general theme we are seeing is your team needs to have at least one elite component (defense, run game, or QB) to win it all.
Is there a SB champion that exists where every component was just....meh?
I'd argue 2 and one of them has to be defense.
Tom Brady has 0 rings without a top 5 defense.
Brady's Super Bowl victories and defenses in PPG. 7,1,8,2,1,6. 3 with a top 5, 3 with a top 10.
I think the original stat was defensive ranking by yardage. Point remains the same. Since you are in the mood to look these up, what are the rankings for non-championship years?

17,2,9,10,10,17,8,4,15,5,5,1
FWIW Rodgers since starting
22,7,2,19,11,24,13,12,21,26,22,9.
Thanks. So, first time back in the Top-10 since the SB win and the Packers made it to the NFC Championship. Things seem to line up nicely to have a Top-5 breakout D this year, so let's see what happens.

Top D and O are really needed to win the SB. I've been saying it for years. There are outliers, but not many. One begets the other.
Well you can not win with out a QB or without a D. QB can just be above average, but the D has to be top tier.
You also need more, in terms of some combination of ST, running game, passing game, etc.
But need QB and D no matter what.
We had our QB, TT desperately tried to get that D, just couldn’t get it right, from Collins injury, to letting Hyde and Hayward walk, to missing on too many picks.

hell you've had both 4 times and didn't win it.
Well, if you want to get picky. The Vikings have had a top 10 offense and defense 15 times in their history. We all know the results. The Packers, on the other hand, have had a top 10 offense and defense 51 times in their history. 10 of those have been since Lombardi left.
Stat of the day. Brady's game was the only NFL game in which the ratings were not down at least 10% over last year. In spite of the stadiums being mostly empty and presumably die hard fans watching at home.

Interesting.
I think NASCAR is the only sport that has seen viewership overall increase from the prior year. But NASCAR also is probably due to being in a valley for the overall popularity of their sport.
Anyone remember which two for AR? I remember one against Tampa in his early days. I honestly don't remember the other. And don't feel like looking it up.

I looked it up. He actually had three in his career. The Tampa one I mentioned, and Cincinnati and Seattle at Lambeau. Cincy was just a bad throw on his part. Happened on their last visit to Lambeau when AR led a comeback late win. Seattle on sort of a fluke dumpoff attempt where it hit a lineman in the hands.
Here's the list from Pro Football Reference and AR isn't on it. Maybe they didn't have space to list all of the 3's ?
Favray comes in at number 1 all time with 31
Starr had 8
