Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #14

Savage. I could have been talked into voting for him earlier if someone made a more convincing case. He's very young and has loads of talent, but he also has a lot to clean up. He could take a big jump next year, or he may have a way to go like Nick Collins did. I like mid-teens for him. So conclude...

Re: Why an Aaron Rodgers trade could come sooner than you think

Yeah, I remember that too. I deny being angry or skeptical of the Rodgers pick when we drafted him, but I do remember and confess to wanting to trade him for Moss when that trade rumor was buzzing, especially since he had looked pretty underwhelming up to that point. And I never imagined I'd look ba...

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #13

why would you think he's better then Marty? Kirksey makes plays behind the LOS that you just do not see from Marty. just asking because when you compare stats of there first 4 seasons Marty looks like Christians big brother That probably has less to do with their play and more to do with the fact t...

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #13

I also like Kirksey here. When healthy and on the field, I think he's a better LBer than Martinez -- plays the run better and is about the same in coverage. And we ranked Marty as high as 8 and 9 in the past, due to some combination of us overrating him and not having that strong of a roster. Torn p...

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #12

Linsley.

Kirksey next. I was a tad bit underwhelmed by Savage last year. He's very athletic and young, so I am not down on him at all, just think the jump needs to be a lot more of one.

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #10

I don't think King's lowlights really have much to do with style WR across from him. One of his best games as a pro was against 49ers' Marquis Goodwin last year (Goodwin was gashing us, but not against King's coverage) because yeah, he may not be fast or twitchy but he's not slow and has the size/le...

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #11

Linsley and Amos both are pretty much the same thing at their positions but C is more valuable than SS if you ask me -- protecting the QB, creating running lanes, and making 'line calls -vs- tackling and coverage (and SS coverage duties tend to be the least daunting of all of the secondary). I'm ove...

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #10

It's between King and Linsley to me. Linsley is not flashy but rock-solid and mans an important role on a good OL unit. Not unlike the argument for Amos but C > SS in my eyes. King has the talent to take on any team's WR1, and the defense is notably better with him in. Getting beat happens to all of...

Firas
Milwaukee, WI --> Racine, WI --> Glendale, WI <<--->> BAHstin, MA

(I am quarantined back in WI but likely go back to MA whenver normal returns)

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #9

King has the size/athleticism to match-up with any receiver and has pretty good ball skills.

Jaire is the more refined player but King is more talented and more valuable, IMO.

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #6

According to his agent, the "open" pro day that his media reported numbers are based on was run on a wet track. He offered to rerun on a different surface (grass) and a handful of teams stuck around, Texans and Packers being two of them, and ran in the low 4.4's. This info from his agent ...

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #8

If the sack/rush production by Smith is important, why value Jenkins' ability to stop opposing sacks/rushes *and* pave running lanes any lower?

And, again, Jenkins did it consistently, as in every week, whereas Smith is a non-factor some weeks.

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #8

How is it that Preston Smith has 12 sacks, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Interception and 23 QB hits and yet he is not the consensus #8 pick here? Because we have other really good players, too. Namely, Jenkins. Smith was good for us last season, no question. He had some quiet games, though, and I do think a ...

Re: Rookie QBs: To Play or Not To Play

Some QBs are ready enough that I would just throw them out there. Otherwise, I definitely do not want to throw them to the wolves. I think that's how a lot of QB that had a chance end up getting ruined. Jordan Love is pretty much Deshone Kizer as a prospect, but I don't think Kizer was a bust due to...

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #6

Interesting... if LT is in that 2nd tier, why isn't Edge1? If DT1 is in that 2nd tier why isn't G/C? DT v. IOL ... IOL who get the job done are not as hard to find, and good IOL play is more about unit cohesion than individual talent anyway, but a DT has to be more than just a technically refined b...

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #6

NFL.com's Bucky Brooks ranked positions thus: QB, EDGE1, LT, CB1, WR1, (3-down) DT, RB, EDGE2, MLB (ILB1), TE, FS, WLB (ILB2?), RT, CB2, RG, WR2, C, SS, SLB (ILB3?), LG, NT, WR3, K, P, KR/PR. Generally OK ranking, tho I question some of the later ones (WLB over RT? TE over FS? RG over LG?), and I l...

Re: Rank the Roster 2020: #7

I don't care that the support for Jenkins is based off of 1 season; I'm not big into "provenness"-arguments. I feel perfectly comfortable projecting forward. He's a legit perrenial all-pro talent and his craft already is very refined. I don't see anyone else on the list as comparably talen...
